yeah, it's a discount if you own them on the wii.  I transferred my wii stuff to my wii u last week and it transfers shop data as well.

You have to transfer them from Wii to WiiU for the new price to appear, which is how it does the check I assume. Because we all know that their account system is garbage. So you will more or less have 2 copies of your VC games on your system.

Yeah, that's what I meant. Performance improvements by nature are incremental, you can't just flip a switch and suddenly the system turns into greased lightning. My original estimate was that it would take a year of patches every few months to get it to decent levels.

As ever, people are confusing those who have interest in video games with those who have interest in Nintendo products.  They're not really overlapping categories.  Nintendo will be fine, they will just never be relevant again for anyone other than Nintendo fans.
