The update game is the defining experience of my PS3 experience

They pretty much fixed that shit best they could with PS Plus, but the fact that you have to -pay- for it... *snort*

I had a sweet session earlier.

Go to store to redeem Metal Gear Rising DLC code, wait for store to update.  A few minutes.
Start up Metal Gear Rising, get "you must be on newer firmware to play."  20+ minutes later it's done.
Start up Metal Gear Rising, again, game has a patch.  A minute or two.
Start up Metal Gear Rising, again, again, game has a 2+ gig install*.  About 10 minutes.

*Back of the box lies and says it only needs a 400kb install.  I read it earlier so I didn't have to run into this mess when I wanted to play.

EA or Activision could prevent used game sales right now on 360 or PS3 if they wanted to. Just expand the "online pass" to cover offline play as well as online. If someone wants to play the game at all they need to go online and enter their pass, just like any MMO key code.

With that in mind, I'm not sure why MS would want to forcefully kill all used games sales rather than giving publishers the choice.

man, Silent Hill is getting weird.

don't know the context of what you said is about but have you played Silent Hill Book of Memories for PSV? That game is so not Silent Hill.

Context:  Killzone seems to have a fair amount of fog to fill in the space

and nah, i'm not too into SH.  But after looking at screens I gotta ask what the hell is that game-- a top down shooter?

I only played the demo, the visuals stunned me at first, looks great. But yes it resembles a top down shooter. You go from room to room killing enemies and collecting keys to open doors to kill more enemies. The focus seems shifted from horror into action.

I haven't seen any pixel analysis for it, but I believe it's 1080p if it's running on a dev kit. At least there are 1080p videos of it out there (). It's still far from release and things can change.

Seems like photo sites last a couple years before they go bad.  Imgur has been getting shittier too.  I liked these sites because of how lightweight they were!   And if you ever used tinypic years ago, go visit the posts where you posted the pics for some lulz (they reuse the links, so they'll be someone else's weird pics)
