So is there anything MS can do at this point to Durango to make it as capable as the PS4?

Let's a wait for the actual specs before proclaiming a "winner". Even if the Nextbox end up with a slower GPU and worse memory, I still expect most third-party multiplatform games to look the same. Loyal customers will also buy it so they can keep their friends list and gamerscore.

Based on the rumors MS is trying to be both a budget priced ($300-400) media convergence device and a "good enough" core gaming console vs the PS4. We'll see how that turns out, I guess.

Down Below looks pretty bad, but I guess that's more an artistic failing than a technical one. Yes the skin shading and detail are nice but it still falls into the uncanny valley.
This is why Nintendo didn't bother with a high-spec machine, folks - they aren't interested in making games with this level of realism, and I'll bet their artists aren't prepared to try.

A volumetric pixel. There are a handful of games, like 3D Dot Game Heroes, that uses the art style.

It depends what you compare it to. CPU, GPU and memory are all great compared to other gaming devices (consoles, handhelds, tablets, smarthphones). Of course they won't compare favorably with a modern high-end gaming PC.

Guess what Famitsu readers care about(if the translation is good)

Following the announcement of the PlayStation 4 last month, Famitsu conducted a survey in which its readers were asked to vote for their most anticipated game unveiled for Sony’s new hardware.

With 89 votes it should come as no surprise that the next Final Fantasy is the top choice for Famitsu readers, even though nothing was shown for the game as opposed to other titles at the February 20th event.
Watch Dogs followed with 35, Deep Down had 34 votes, Killzone: Shadow Fall had 29 votes and inFAMOUS: Second Son came in last with 23.

Additionally, readers were also impressed by the PS4′s graphical capabilities ( 97 votes ) while even more ( 106 votes ) hotly anticipate the final price for the system over seeing its actual design ( 57 votes ).
In total, 1580 votes were submitted in the survey. Multiple choices were allowed.

That translation was pretty crapastic,Kotaku has better stuff

full copy-paste
http://kotaku.com/5989103/heres-what-japanese-people-are-saying-about-the-ps4
Quote
Japanese gaming magazine, Weekly Famitsu conducted a questionnaire between February 22nd and February 26th, where they asked Japanese game fans for their thoughts and opinions on Sony's upcoming console. The questionnaire consisted of 4 questions.

Quote
1. What were your initial impressions of the PS4?
"Developers are saying it's easy to program for so it looks like there'll be a lot of games." Responded a 36 year-old office worker. Of those who responded, roughly half said they were anticipating or highly anticipating the PS4 right out the gate. Some remained reserved, however, voicing concern at the overt focus on the overseas market or the fact that the console would not be compatible with PS3 game discs. A good portion also remained on the fence due to lack of intricate details.

Quote
2. What functions or services are you interested in?
Graphics were definitely the biggest point of interest for gamers, and the PS4 does not look to disappoint. Interestingly, however, more than the other additional features, people seemed to be looking forward to the decreased load time thanks to the Suspend Mode that maintains game progress in a low-power mode. This seems to indicate an overall present dissatisfaction having to go through the startup process to load a game in progress each time you power up a machine.

Quote
3. What upcoming game titles are you interested in?

Quote
4. What upcoming announcements are you looking forward to?
The pricetag. Or, more accurately, "how hard our wallets are going to be hit" was on the minds of most responders. And with good reason. The original 60GB PS3 shook Japanese buyers down for a hefty ¥59,980 (US$638.49) when it first came out. Sony has remained tight-lipped about the price of the PS4, but hopefully it won't be as costly.
Among people who responded with "other" were the following opinions:
"It looks like there will be a lot more network services, but I'd like to know just how much of them will be available for free. I'd like things that were free for the PS3, like online play, to remain that way." (28 year-old office worker)
"Won't cloud services suffer from network congestion depending on the game genre? I don't understand why they don't just make the PS4 backwards compatible with the PS3." (39 year-old office worker)

It means that devs would have to make sure that game is somehow playable using Vita controls.

Yoshida interview
Quote
Q: You showed us how you could use the Vita as a second screen in your living room. Is that local only, or is there any ambition with Gaikai to use that as a server and get further away in the living room?

A: Technically speaking, it works from anywhere, as far as you have a wi-fi connection from your Vita to the PlayStation 4. It needs to be wi-fi. However, for some games, when you play or connect from far away, it accumulates latency. Some games may not be playable, like fighting games or shooting games. But some other slower paced games will be playable. As long as you have home routers anywhere in your home, you can play every PlayStation 4 game. We ask developers when they finish the PlayStation 4 product and submit a master to make sure that they have the appropriate controller mapping to work on PS Vita. All games will work – unless it is a dance game [laughs].

He says "we ask" though.

In theory it should work better than Gaikai, server is much closer and not hindered by internet connection. If PS4 had PS2 BC you could play PS2 JRPGs on Vita.I would be interested in that,I can't stand PS2 games on big HD screens all I see is shimmering, jaggies and pixels crawling around.

If...
