Personally, I'm surprised at just how badly it's performed in terms of acquiring ports simply in terms of this one year here prior to the release of the PS4/Durango. I figured it was going to be largely screwed in terms of AAA next-gen titles, but going back a year, I figured that things would be going a little better for them now than they are. I didn't have very lofty expectations for the Wii U prior to release, and it has continuously underperformed what I expected despite having a pretty low bar.

He's not exactly wrong though. Deus Ex launched in what... 2000? I can't really name a good looking 2000 title from my memory but the Unreal Engine that powered Unreal 1 and Unreal Tournament ('99) wasn't particularly a strong "looker." I wouldn't go so far as to say it was "shit when it came out" but it wasn't a strong graphical showcase when it launched and it looked pretty bad a few years later.

I remember a story that all the level designers of Deus Ex had only worked with the Quake Engines before and didn't really now how to work with the Unreal Engine. So parts of the game ran like shit because of that and some parts of the game look dire. I think there was a technique called zoning that really helped the Engine conserve resources and the Designers of Deux Ex didn't know that at all.

I disagree with the notion that the Unreal Engine wasn't a stronk looker back then though. Unreal was pretty much the best looking game when it came out (although it also has a couple of levels were the designers don't seem to know what they're doing) and Unreal Tournament was a great looking game as well.

Because at that point it was a witch hunt. (And now im repeating myself) You will notice that Garnett's thought thread is "don't act rashly, lets look at the whole party culture, figure out who is to blame, then act" Women's issues are far to important to just go barreling in head first like a stupid boar with nothing other to say than "fire everyone!!11!" Fire who? Who is to blame? Why is there a party culture around this? Why was this allowed to happen again?  Not only are they both getting to the same destination, Garnett is acting in a more beneficial and rational way.
