The problem is that Nintendo simply does not have the ability to compete with Microsoft and Sony. Last generation, since motion control gaming was a fad, it helped cover things for Nintendo for about three years. Then when the blue ocean moved to iOS, the Wii sales were pretty subpar. Nintendo consoles are pretty shitty deals. For $100 more, instead of a Wii U, you can get a new PS4 with shitloads of more useful features than the Miiverse or TVii.
I really think Nintendo's future is an Apple TV/Roku type machine that also plays Nintendo games. It could be a partnership type of thing, it would sell for cheap, and would still allow Nintendo's base of several million play the latest super jumpyman games.
