Penny-Arcade expo thread; gonna get good, real fast. Already has knee-jerk responses about "segregation" instead of some critical thinking.

While, yes: Their writing about the area is really bad and seems like they're segregating, I'm hoping that isn't the case and they actually have good discussions/shops/etc. set-up for it.

But it's Penny-Arcade, so I'm sure it's going to backfire spectacularly.

it's probably so Gabe can avoid them.

Please take T out of LGBT.
Probably better, I never understood how Trans issues related to Bi, Lesbian and Gay issues which are pretty much the same thing.

I'm positive that's sarcasm, but it still reminds me of GOTY voting arguments on Gaming side where people try to come up with elaborate reasons why their list is the only one that should count.

To be fair, Transsexuals are "pretty confusing" even to gay people. Which is why the T is there. Or whatever the reasoning is. All I know is they get hated on just as badly as the straights hate them at times.

Please take T out of LGBT.
Probably better, I never understood how Trans issues related to Bi, Lesbian and Gay issues which are pretty much the same thing.

T is in LGBT because of things like Stonewall. In the 60's, trans people and gay people were along the same ride and it was beneficial to stick together. Many early gay rights steps were taken by trans people. However, in 2013, our issues couldn't be more different. Being trans or gq is a medical issue, being gay is a sexual issue. More than that, T is a hindrance to the current gay rights movement. Conservative leaders mostly point to the T part of LGBT on things like ENDA and the gays are usually happy to sacrifice to get what they want - which is of course, usually for gays. A lot of trans people make the argument that we are so small we need the gay movement to get anything, but then it comes to be thrown under the bus or given scraps. So I think that is bullshit and I'm pretty positive the greater international trans community have managed well without holding gay coat tails.

Also the most transphobic literature I've read are from gays. I really haven't seen much homophobia among the trans community, but there's a shit ton of it in the gay community. The Michigan Womyn Festival thing -again I am talking  about an American perspective - is a big thing with lesbian and they don't allow trans women. Gay people will also throw out the idea that trans people are so gay they'd rather be the opposite gender, sometimes with envy.

Expect the Stonewall movie to be rainbow washed. :teehee

Interesting,

Two of my friends are a gay couple (oh god that makes me sound like those I HAVE A BLACK FRIEND people but eh) and I was always surprised hearing them talk about this. To them, it seemed like there's almost a caste system between people in the LGBT scene, and each side secretly hate each other or something. I figured it was just their sense of humor, because some of the stuff they would say were pretty wicked.. Hell, it seems that there's a caste system even between gay people, depending on the lifestyle. I really had no idea there was such division in the cause.

I should play a DW game one of these days. I like the various clones like Basara ,but haven't played the actual DW games.

But yeah it's Zelda so I don't really care about this version.

Rah, Wariors games depends on pure interest. They're fan service games and that's why they're popular. If you have  a specific interest in a subject, whether it's Chinese history (Dynasty Warriors), Japanese history (Samurai Warriors), Gundam (Dynasty Warriors Gundam), the occult and Japanese folklore (Warriors Orochi), One Piece (One Piece Pirate Warriors), or Fist of the North Star (Ken's Rage) you may like them. They're combo-heavy real time strategy hybrid beat em ups with loot. What do you like? They all play surprisingly different from each other despite their similarities.

I honestly suggest Warriors Orochi 3 for a beginner. It is the best Musou title available on the market and it introduces you to the casts of Samurai Warriors and Dynasty Warriors. Plus it has characters from other KT games like Ryu Hayabusa, Ayane from DOA/NG;etc.

Between the two flagship series, I prefer Samurai Warriors over Dynasty because characters have more varied and unique movests, the challenge is higher, there's more open-ended goals to stages, they're more replayable, and there's a higher focus on micromanaging the battlefield. But others prefer Dynasty Warriors due to its larger character roster and game modes. If you like One Piece, OPPW2 is a great place to start too.

Here's a great video of a skilled Musou player playing Warriors Orochi 3.

I'm pretty sure that if Omega Force made an American revolution Warriors game where you can play as George Washington using the cherry tree as a weapon, as he mows down thousands of red cloaks, Americans would be able to understand the appeal of Muosu.

Don't see the big deal with that. Most people are probably never going to wear suits unless it's special occasions like prom or weddings. Business Casual took over from suits.

I work from home, and when I am in the office it's extremely casual. I still wear a suit a fairly often. Job interview? Formal event? Important meeting? Presentation? Eventful dinner?

Suit. Suit. Suit. Suit. Suit. Not to mention funerals, weddings, stage productions, themed parties...there's a lot of places in life you're going to want to wear a suit man. And even then, the only suit you ever got to wear was pink and at prom? That's rough.

Girlfriend + Fallout, that's a whole different can of thirst related issues. Hit me with like a sadness/confusion combo. This suit thing is just like...aw man.

I wore an anime tshirt with Burst Angel on it to my last interview. I interviewed at a multinational tech company where I wouldnt be customer facing (BI) so I basically said in the interview "this is me, if that's not okay with this company I'd rather find out now". Got the job, and now I come to work in flip flops and shorts.

Favorite uncle of mine died last month, I was there in a nice shirt and jeans.

I am however getting a suit for my brothers wedding next week, but only because he insisted as I'm the best man.

Same business casual attire you'd wear normally works in general for those.

Quote
Formal event?

Only if it's "Black Tie"/Formal-formal. Otherwise most probably don't care.

Quote
Important meeting?

Most won't care, Business Casual.

Quote
Presentation?

See above.

Quote
Eventful dinner?

Same as the Formal. Most probably won't care and it's depending on the event itself.

Quote
Not to mention funerals,

Never been to a funeral that wanted anything besides people wearing black "church"/casual clothes. Never demanded suits. I'm sure it's possible, but that just seems really weird to me.

Quote
weddings, stage productions,

Yeah, I'll agree to those.

Quote
there's a lot of places in life you're going to want to wear a suit man.

Not really. Exceptions to the norm. For most people, Formal dinners and the like won't happen to them. Either because of socio-economic or otherwise.

As for the pink suit, I guess it depends on theme and what the girl is wearing. But yeah... really weird choice there.

Any more sad than "your girl plays games obsessively stop hatin' bro" ?
the saddest part is that once again someone trusts a forum more than the girlfriend they live with. I think it's funny how many times he mentions that she doesn't cook for him and doesn't have food ready when he arrives home.

The whole thing is lulz. If your SO is basically leeching off you say something. Then there's the dudes who will put up with any ol' shit because she plays games I like. Fuck. I need to get in on this. Too bad escorting/prostituting is shady/illegal business. Just have a house of girls playing games. Send them out to bars.

do you... do you have a lot of stage productions and themed parties going on?

You trying to get something together? Want to run it by someone with experience. I'm your man  :-*

Hey man if it works it works. I don't think I'd be comfortable pulling that off, but you got the job so who gives a shit right?

Not really. Exceptions to the norm. For most people, Formal dinners and the like won't happen to them. Either because of socio-economic or otherwise.

As for the pink suit, I guess it depends on theme and what the girl is wearing. But yeah... really weird choice there.

I can get with that. I think I'm just more comfortable going full suit in certain situations. There's at least a handful of times each year where I feel like it's necessary, and some others that are borderline, maybe a sweater and tie type things.

I usually wear a dress shirt and pants to interviews but for Microsoft ones it makes me feel kinda overdressed given what the interviewers are wearing ...

Yeah, whining and moaning isn't gonna do shit. Kinda funny that he lauded the game to her, then she got way to into it and now he's losing his shit. But whatever...I'm currently smoking weed and playing games myself. So maybe I'm biased.

In the end I guess I knew I would be terribly unhappy coming to work with a tie and a buttoned up shirt everyday, I already had a pretty neat tech job so I had nothing to lose \o/

How does someone enter adulthood and decide they'll never wear a suit again

The best part of wearing suits is that if you're somewhere where they're being worn by employees and you stand off to the side out of the way for any length of time people think you work there and ask you for help.

Maybe it's just me.  :fbm
