Square Enix has confirmed that it will hold a Final Fantasy event at E3. Titled “The Future of Final Fantasy,” the event will be open to press from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. Pacific on Tuesday, June 11th

i'm confused... shouldn't this be happening now?

As far as reviews and reception go I guess XII, but I like XIII so fuck the haters.

But I mean XIII was supposed to be a AAA game and is when it comes to production values.

I hope so. That would extend the amount of time before I have to buy a next gen console. I won't get a Wii U unless someone buys it for me or it's less than $200. I ain't got a job or money for that. And I don't have a stream of nintendo bucks (i.e. mom and dad's money) flowing to me any more despite living at home.

When was the last AAA FF game?  X?

XIII-1

it had a butt load of money thrown in it, still has top 5 graphics and production values this gen.  just pretty boring.

XIII-2 was more budget, XIII-3 is practically Simple 2000 Series status

And now we're on to Yoshinori Kitase, producer of Final Fantasy X/X-2 Remaster and Lighting Returns: Final Fantasy XIII. He's telling us about how the FFX remakes will be on Vita and PS3, to delight those who haven't played them. And he boasts that Lightning Returns is both new and challenging. when I first played it, I totally hated it.

when I replayed it, I knew what to expect and liked it much better, but I still wouldn't recommend it to people.  Namely cause you don't get the full battle system for the first 20 hours.  Once you get it, it's one of the best FF battle systems, but that's literally all the game has.   No minigames, the "crafting" stuff sucks, crystarium level system is pretty linear, it's just the battle system.

FFXIII's characters weren't bad.  Sahz was great, Hope was alright after he stopped being annoying/whiny in the first 10 hours, Fang was solid, Snow was cheezy but fun, and Vanille...well it's always good to have a character with down syndrome in your game that you can laugh at.  BUT LIGHTNING ARGHGHGHG; in an attempt to make a female Cloud, they basically make the most uninteresting no-emotion boring lead in an FF to date.  She sucked in XIII, and I didn't play enough to see if she was any better in XIII-2, but I doubt it.  She's just a terrible attempt at a character and made the XIII franchise a giant waste.

FFXV looks totally uninteresting. They all have been The Spirits Within: The Game ever since FFX.
I don't see how anyone can take a glance at the trailer and think of the words 'Final Fantasy'.

 ::)

XII was awesome until it falls apart; XI/XII/XIII/XIV/XV all have looked like "FF";  What, you don't want cutscenes in your rpgs?  Play XI/XIV then.  XV probably looks the least FF because it was originally supposed to be a spinoff.  To me FFXV looks like Kingdom Hearts grown up and without the Disney.

FFXIII characters are terrible Bebs. Get real. Lightning is okay until she goes full circle exactly how i expected her character development to go: mean bitch aka INTERESTING CHARACTER -> let's all hold hands. Vanille is objectively the worst FF character. Snow sucks. HERO. WANNA BE A HERO. HEROES CAN NEVER DIE. HERO! Fang is pretty okay but forgettable. This leaves Hope who tries to murder Snow, thank god) but he sucks half the game, Sazh.

So really, only one interesting character.

SOUNDS NICE

yup yup bebpo gets it,beside it's a pretty diverse cast... and you don't have to FULLY EXPLORE a game to enjoy it's setting, the atelier games i'm playing trough have exactly 1 town (well i guess totori has 2 of them) composed of around 5 screens and consist of piece of world so small you can see them whole in less than 3 minutes and somehow i'm still liking them

Yes. Yes you do need to explore to enjoy a games setting. At the very least, give us interesting lore and atmosphere. FF13 is a cavern fiesta and it sucks shit. Vagrant Story, Digital Devil Saga, and Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter offer much more in the way interesting settings and follow the same exact formula as FF13 (linear dungeon crawlers) but with a smidgen of personality and mood.

Lol wonder if her 'inside' sources told her that one. I noticed her absence in any SE thread this morning. Can't wait to hear the excuses. When gaf finally comes back up. Still can't forget her changing her lightning avatar when 13 was announced for Xbox 360.

This isn't her first goof this E3 she also shouted down and locked the thread made last week that PS4 would have paid multiplayer, again so she said she heard from her 'sources'.

What a magnificent bullshitter.

Quote
"It was a huge amount of joy that we were finally able to announce Final Fantasy 15," said producer Shinji Hashimoto.

When asked why the company decided to publish for the Xbox One, he added that in order to reach the most fans, Square Enix has to flexible regarding which platforms their games will launch on.

Final Fantasy 15 is being developed with DirectX 11, which Hashimoto said made it possible to port the title to different hardware. This has made it possible for the company to launch the game on Xbox One as well, he said.

If Sony did help fund it and this is the final result. Then they got Level 5'ed.  :lol

If Dragon Quarter's setting was made by the FFXIII team it'd be boring and drab and terrible.

Dragon Quarter works because the talent that made it work.  They made it mysterious and intriguing.  They got great artists and had Sakimoto do a soundtrack that brought the world to life.  And then of course they had some of the best gameplay design in PS2 rpgs, which made the whole thing memorable and fun.

There's nothing wrong with XIII's setting (Pulse/Cocoon/Falcie), it's the team's (namely Toriyama) fault for not making it interesting in the game.
