I havent had the time to follow the Xbone DRM scandal and subsequent retraction in full detail, but all I know currently is that always online DRM is bullshit. Mainly due to the fact that your entertainment is governed by servers that will not always be online, not always be functional, and be dealing with a buttload of other traffic.

Maybe in the future when everything is online all the time, and floating in our magical digital cloud, this kind of shit would be viable. But no, computers and consoles and shit are unfortunately still governed by physical laws

As much as I'm all about laughing at Xbox fans right now, I understand maxy's point. For people who really wanted an all-digital future, having multiple options to purchase a game was going to be beneficial. Just think of Steamworks games. If a game comes with a code that activates on Steam, it doesn't matter where I buy it, as I can still add it to my Steam library regardless. So, I log on to Steam, it's full price. I go over to GreenManGaming and it's $10 off and there's 20% off coupon. Boom, I'll buy it from there. Or maybe I've got a Target gift card. I'll use that and buy the retail disc and still activate it on Steam.

Now, there's nothing stopping Microsoft from still offering a digital SKU to retail partners, so I'm certainly not on board with the narrative that whining gamers ruined this awesome thing. However, if the status quo is maintained, we're back to Microsoft's shop being the only place in town to buy digital games. Best Buy running a gnarly sale on Titanfall, but you'd rather have the digital version and Microsoft's store is charging full price? Well, you've got a decision to make.

You are right.

I'm upset there was no will to remove the crap and leave the good things.

Like giving an option to remove 24 hour limit for people that don't want to trade or "share" games.
Removing that idiotic one friend only rule
Used retail?I don't care, industry created it and they should deal with it

In the end MS managed to anger me twice.First time they dragged me in 24 hour mandatory internet clusterfuck, second time by removing any chance of decent digital pricing on consoles.

Kinda funny when I think about it.

I think his plan was to buy cheap disc copies and install then and never use the disc again, apparently that isn't possible without 24 hours check ins.

It's possible with one time activation if you make disc useless afterwards.

Who would sell these cheap copies that won't get sold now?

I mean now you will be able to get even cheaper copies.
