Region free confirmed too.
I think they are referring to IP locking, not discs.

I think it will remain the same as X360: Console is region free but games vary by publishers

We're back to "American presidential election" style, where both candidates are basically the same, neither has proven worthy, and people fight endlessly about their petty differences.

Seems like they were caught with their pants down. Didn't expect PS4 to be out so quickly, assumed the high tech would lead to a more expensive PS3 console, perhaps had a "big" launch title planned, etc. Perhaps they felt gamers would have no choice, as both consoles would have similar prices and DRM policies. Most of that shit backfired and now they'll be rebuilding the brand/mindshare for a long time.

They took a risk and it blew up in their face. They better be trying to get Titanfall out at launch lol.

:bow Corporate Competition :bow2

I don't know how anyone here can't be excited about this.

Even if you don't get an Xbone, its gonna force Sony to up the value of their system now that they're on a little more even playing field.

Now I might get one in a year or so when Quantum Break is out.

I don't think it'll force them to do anything since they're still $100 cheaper, have the better online service, and better hardware.   It just means they won't be able to slack as much.

These changes will impact some of the scenarios we previously announced for Xbox One. The sharing of games will work as it does today, you will simply share the disc. Downloaded titles cannot be shared or resold. Also, similar to today, playing disc based games will require that the disc be in the tray.

Drop dead,gamers.

Good. I never understood that stance.

Really, all this tells me is ok, now I might get a One eventually and won't have to deal with DRM shit. I still don't want one anywhere near launch, but maybe 1 year or 2 down the line, they'll get enough content to warrant it.

Exactly.

All it means is we now have nothing left to focus on, except the fact that jack shit has been announced for these consoles :lol

Microsoft also announced today a loosening of the Xbox One's region restrictions. "You could buy a console in any country and use it any country," Whitten said. "You can use any disc in that console."

But Sony also had DRM structures in place...they just decided to drop using them before MS did.

Both systems are essentially the same now, although one comes with a camera and costs 100 bones more.

It's back to being all about the games again, as it should be.
