On Electric Lady's "lack of energy":
I was reading some preliminary reviews Electric Lady and a lot of them cite the lack of energy as a negative in comparison to The ArchAndroid. I have to say that it's not a negative, precisely because of the thematic arc of the story she's telling. Uncommonly stated in reviews, The Electric Lady is a prequel to the first album. It's Cindi Mayweather before she became the ArchAndroid -- the one with bombastic political fervor and emotions exploding all over the place (Tightrope, Cold War, Locked Inside, BaBopByeYa!, Wondaland). It fits that Cindi is finding her feet with her music and daring to reach those heights, and this is when she's on the run from bounty hunters, after all. The ArchAndroid is the fully fleshed-out political firecracker out to make big statements and save the world from oppression; The Electric Lady has a totally different focus for a period before Cindi became an icon in the Metropolis universe.
