Buy them on stubhub. You can buy someone's bought ticket.
You think I haven't checked there? The prices there are more than double the original ticket prices right now. Fuck resellers man.

The only missing genres: needs more jazz, needs blues, country, and house.

:wtf

House was originated by a lot of black musicians, and country is what helped birth blues. Ray Charles for instance had origins in country music. Country in particular had a lot of black roots. If the intent is a celebration of black American music history, those two in particular are noticeably absent. It is cute how people love to attribute blacks to rock but never to country.

Your disdain for house music is also hilarious considering Get Lucky - a house music song - also pays tribute to the same stuff Janelle is paying tribute to in her album, and especially since house has disco and funk origins and in many cases the genres overlap. :wtf

I like Willie Nelson, but that also proves my point. His music is almost as old as he is.

Willy Mason, Neko Case, Horse Feathers, DeYarmond Edison :yeshrug

Alt country is great. Need to get into more.

On Electric Lady's "lack of energy":

I was reading some preliminary reviews Electric Lady and a lot of them cite the lack of energy as a negative in comparison to The ArchAndroid. I have to say that it's not a negative, precisely because of the thematic arc of the story she's telling. Uncommonly stated in reviews, The Electric Lady is a prequel to the first album. It's Cindi Mayweather before she became the ArchAndroid -- the one with bombastic political fervor and emotions exploding all over the place (Tightrope, Cold War, Locked Inside, BaBopByeYa!, Wondaland). It fits that Cindi is finding her feet with her music and daring to reach those heights, and this is when she's on the run from bounty hunters, after all. The ArchAndroid is the fully fleshed-out political firecracker out to make big statements and save the world from oppression; The Electric Lady has a totally different focus for a period before Cindi became an icon in the Metropolis universe.

Reviews have ranged from on-par to a bit more negative than The ArchAndroid. I think people were expecting another massive genre-hopper album, but you can tell Janelle needs a more focused work to get on the radio and on the charts.

well I know, but I'm saying The Electric Lady is clearly geared and focused towards getting her on there. However, I don't think she chose all the right songs for singles, as good as QUEEN and Dance Apocalyptic are. Ghetto Woman and Electric Lady are killer singles.

looks like critics are not receiving it as warmly as ArchAndroid. Lots of 3/4s, 8/10s, 4/5 stars etc.

I think they expected another genre-hopper too much.

Who the fuck cares? It's just reviews. I'm actually surprised people still or have ever followed reviews in music. This isn't like movies or fucking videogames where they're expensive and can be time consuming. Listen to it and decide.

Dude, Janelle isn't that popular and we're just rooting for her. This won't help. :( Her first single for this album only has 6 million views. Plus, the album is great, and this could potentially detour her direction when I LIKE her current direction.

Unfortunately I don't think that number will increase greatly without a big hit or a more stable schedule of releases. She's not Gaga or some other big time pop star, I don't think she can afford to put out one album every three years.

She makes her money on the road, not with albums. That applies to most people though.

She'll be fine. I don't think her album has anything on it that can get radio play but she's capable of making a radio song.

Is this US only?

And that doesn't mean she's only doubled her fanbase. A lot of people just don't buy albums no matter how much they like the music. I've been like that most of my life. I'm still like that really except for when it comes to her and King Kendrick. I'd much prefer to pay to see you perform live.
