I'm reading not great things about the PC port.  and by default it's locked at 30 fps, need to unlock it through editing an ini.

it's not an option because the games are now fundamentally designed to function with data installed to the local hard drive.

yeah, the PC port is no good.  when the PS4 is more consistent than a 970, something got fucked up.

I got the game as a voucher so I can't complain too much.  but I will and say it's the worst PC port I've played in some time.

The Arkham Knight is such a lame emo villain and yes I know the twist which makes him even more uninteresting. Scarecrow should have been the main and only villain. What an actual fantastic design and voice he has in this game. Then again the Arkham games kind of have a problem with the correct villain focus.

Haven't gotten very far but the AK talks way too much and his voice definitely already makes him a lame

Batmobile strafing sucks and is multiplied by having to manipulate it into spaces awkwardly during missions :yuck

Weird that the game has so few graphics options, the last three all had a good number of them IIRC. This borderline has "quality" and "shadows" with low/medium/high like Star Trek: The Video Game did.

Of course they're insane if they think the game is playable without NVIDIA ENHANCED RAIN turned on. So I don't even know why that's an option.

Yep, they ported Origins too, which they and WB Montreal actually patched up pretty well at least on my end*. (And Bioshock 2 DLC and Infinite...also did the Borderlands 2 Vita port.)

Rocksteady has issued a statement regarding the problems with the PC version of the game, but has not named the external studio involved.

Game director Sefton Hill has suggested that the PC port of Batman: Arkham Knight was outsourced to Iron Galaxy, stating that Warner Bros is working with the developer "to address the issues ASAP".

"I'm aware that some users are reporting performance issues with the PC version. This is something that Rocksteady takes very seriously," Hill tweeted.

"WBGames is working with the PC developer IronGalaxy to address the issues ASAP. Rocksteady will provide any support to get this resolved."

Warner Bros. Games has issued a lengthy forum post outlining ways in which users can improve the performance of Batman: Arkham Knight on minimum and recommended system specs. Performance fixes remain in development

*Splash Damage on the other hand seemed to know that multiplayer was going to be dead on arrival because they never fixed the PC matchmaking loading everyone in the game into a black screen. :lol

Slight shame since the MP was kinda interesting and I would have liked to play 15-20 games of it instead of five.

It's like every forum troubleshooting thread:
"game runs like shit on lowest settings"
"have you tried turning down the settings?"
"maybe run a defrag? do a spyware scan?"
"you probably need to reinstall windows, you should really be doing this every other week because of the bloat/garbage"

WHAT A TIME

I think we're approaching a tipping point soon with these broken ass games. Especially with Steams refund policy. I think we'll start seeing refund policies applied to other DD platforms soon and with a more direct cause/effect relationship between shit broken ass games and devs being held accountable, we'll see it happening less.

Steam's refund policy is a pretty big deal in this regard, since a game that's broke on release can be immediately refunded with no questions asked. Rocksteady/WB's quick response suggests to me that more than a few copies got redunded yesterday.

I'm a couple hours in and liking the game despite the technical problems.  so far they do do a weak job convincing me to use the batmobile.  for example, there's no detective vision in the car.  even getting from point to point, by flying you can spot side objectives like ridder's goons to interrogate or hostages.  but I can appreciate their insistence that batman isn't killing people by running them down.  the car has little tasers around its frame to "shock" enemies out of its path.

This is the most fluid open world game I've ever played.  How seamless you go from diving into your Batmobile, boosting through a few side streets, ejecting at top speed, gliding through the Gotham skies to a perfect vantage point to begin a stealth predator takedown is just phenomenal.

The whole "BATMAN DOESNT KILL STOP RUINING HIM" fans are annoying as fuck. So what if he did? He did before, even in the Nolan movies that popularized the idea. So what if he does or doesn't? A sadist in a bat costume armed lethal weapons who has a vendetta against criminals can cripple them but killing them is too much? Fuck off.

On another note, I like that Gotham is evacuated where the only people there are bad guys who want to loot and kill. Regular people just walking around as Batman and his villains destroy stuff would have been dumb.

Warner has suspended new purchases of Batman until they fix the game.

Doesn't say what they're doing specifically but it sounds like they are either:

fixing the port
redoing the port

Pretty weird situation all told.
