If they want to pad out with more of those detective bits, I'm fine with subjecting the rest of you to that.

Although I suggest they find a better way to do the narration instead of making it seem like Batman is reminding himself how to investigate. "I should follow the path of the bullet to see if there's any evidence over there. I need to look around this area."

Yeah, all they'd need to do is have Bats talk more with ANY of the other allies he has in the game:
Batman: "Alfred, I'm going to follow the path of this bullet. I'll need the bat cave's additional computing power to analyze the trajectory from my current location."
Alfred: (audible radio filter applied) "Very good, Master Bruce."

No. MM3 introduced the slide. MM4 introduced a charge shot. The slide completely benefited the gameplay and made Mega more mobile, leading to better platforming, action, and particularly boss fights. For this reason, 3 is the best nes Mega Man title. The charge shot was like the spin dash in Sonic 2: an extra power move that didn't really improve the gameplay in any way, that the game creators thought would be a good way to "spice" the game up, when they didn't have anything remotely creative to add to its gameplay formula. That said, I haven't played Arkham Knight - obviously - but damn, if the parallels aren't there:

flying in Batman AC : slide in Mega Man :: bat mobile despite the fact the crux of past Arkham's was personal exploration : charge shot in Mega Man.

more just that they keep going back to the well and the differences seem smaller each time.  also i'm totally down for this one but i'm not sure how many more i can give a fuck about.

This is really the issue I have. Games are okay, but the yearly (near yearly) cycle of them has gotta stop. Same for Assassin's Creed and other series.

Origins made up for it with the presentation and story. Oh, and all the detective cases even if all I was doing is pretending to impact a cutscene. And the boss fights. Plus I'm just not burnt out about it yet. Except for the "normal" fights and predator rooms.

Namely, I'd prefer more small scale predator opportunities and combat vs. the giant room with dudes wandering around which is just you waiting around and/or massive melees with ten dudes.

So like instead of going into a room where there's three dudes and I punch them all. Then do whatever switch or key I need to. Instead in the room prior I can go under grates or climb up over some thing, etc. and surprise the dudes taking out one or two immediately and then trying to quick taking down the others via a semblance of pre-planning. Like you can kinda do in the large predator rooms when you get it down to three guys or so and get them all in one section of the room. As is, it's more like you can quick take down one guy but then gotta punch your way through the rest. It still takes like five seconds but gets more redundant than if the rooms were designed to allow different initial approaches more.

Although, and this is a criticism of Nolan Bats too, I'm not a fan of the Batmobile or whatever being outfitted with all sorts of weapons. "Damn it Catwoman, no guns! Unless they're on my motorcycle. Then killing bad guys is A-OK!"

Also not a fan of shooting gameplay in general, so maybe that's factoring in.

It might be quicker depending on how vertical things are, with uneven distances and things you can't grapple. Depends on how fast it drives I suppose.

Also looks like they intend on you using it as a mobile boost to get off the ground quicker into a glide.

oh i'm sure they'll find plenty of jarring reasons to force you to use the car.

on the giantbomb podcast a scenario described involved driving through a tunnel with several doors, and constantly getting out of the car to pull levers as batman.

Going to buy a mask like this to wear while I play

That was my first thought as well but honestly I'm not sure where else there is for them to take the series. I'm certain it will be a solid game. I don't think the franchise can hit and take us by surprise the way that first game did, but there is also nothing wrong with people who craft solid experience that you know are going to be solidly good games.

i finished the first two, couldnt get more than a couple hours in Arkham Origins, which i recognize still had the classic fighting / travel systems in tact, but felt like "id done this before"

also i wish this series werent so scared of just having one villain at a time.  every game, it's like hey were getting the band back together!

i prefer Asylum for story and impact (no one expected it to be that good) and A:City for gameplay fun and variety.

Have we seen tag-team moves before this? It was news to me!

I saw an article saying it’ll cost US$100 to play all the Arkham Knight content. Sad; there’s no way I’m dropping money on the collector’s edition or DLC. I’ll probably buy vanilla and then wait for the Greatest Hits version... used. I just do not like this model of upselling.

Earlier this week, we announced the Season Pass for Batman: Arkham Knight. While the story of Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham Trilogy will come to a close on June 23rd, we are excited to continue telling stories and delivering more content to explore and play through in the 6 months following the game’s release. We’ll be building more narrative, more missions, more challenges and more characters and vehicles that we want players to experience, even though they didn’t fit into the storyline of Batman: Arkham Knight.

We’ve heard from our community that you want more information on what we’ll be delivering in the Season Pass. While we aren’t ready to unveil every aspect of the content we’ll be developing, we would like to share more detail now to give you a better sense of the scope of the Season Pass.

Batgirl: A Matter of Family
An all new prequel story expansion in an entirely new location where you play as Batgirl for the very first time in the Arkham series - check out the first render of Batgirl.

The Season of Infamy
Play as Batman in all new story missions featuring legendary super-villains invading Gotham City, with new story arcs, missions and gameplay features.

Gotham City Stories
Play as Batman’s key allies in narrative missions extending their storylines, from both before and after the events in Batman: Arkham Knight.

Legendary Batmobiles with Themed Tracks
Drive the most iconic Batmobiles from Batman’s 75-year history, on custom-built race tracks, each themed to that Batmobile’s specific era. Every Batmobile will be drivable across every race track.

Crimefighter Challenge Maps
Engage in a series of new challenge maps utilizing the unique play styles of Batman and his allies.

Character Skins
A variety of skins from across the eras for Batman, Robin, Nightwing and Catwoman.

As we fully ramp up development on the Season Pass, we will be sharing even more details on each monthly content drop. We hope you enjoy playing Batman: Arkham Knight as much as we’ve enjoyed making it.
