Patriots putting that work on the Bills. Hey, remember the last time the Pats were embroiled in a controversy? They went undefeated in the regular season and only lost in the Superbowl due to a fluke, miracle catch. Hopefully this year they go 19-0 and we have the most awkward trophy presentation ever.

Cowboy still got an easy win over the Eagles, but Brandon Weedon to Terrance Williams for 6-8 weeks is not were you wanna be (more like Brandon Weeshouldhavepickedupsomeoneelseduringtheoffseason).

In other words, it might be Tebow time.  :-\ :usacry  :doge

We're trash. Defense is bad. Offense is terrible. Lombardi (offensive coordinator) needs to be fired. This o-line simply cannot run the offense he wants - plus Stafford isn't accurate enough to do it. Yet he keeps trying to shoehorn this shit.

Notice how Megatron got a bunch of targets this week. It feels forced, after they ignored him last week. Every great WR gets double teamed, that's not an excuse to ignore your best weapon.

Denver next week...yikes.

That's the best the Steelers' defense has looked in two years.  Granted its with a Niners offense that isn't great, but Kaep played well considering.

To be fair, I listened to the press conf add Caldwell was pissed from the start, and as usual refused to give up even the most minor injury info. He tends to be very non-committal, and I think the press is running with that. I think Stafford will stat. Official injury report will be out in two days.

*at one point during the conference he basically sonned a journalist by calling him "young man" in a condescending manner.  :lol

How many more years is Caldwell under contract? It seems like the NFL has a shortage of good coaches these days, tbh. Then again I think there's also a shortage of good players, too.

Caldwell signed a 4 year contract, and this is his second year. He's safe but the problem is that if we bomb out this year the front office could be swept out. And of course that would mean that the new regime would give Caldwell a year or so before bringing in their guy. Personally I like Caldwell.

Our o-line is missing two players due to injury, including a Pro Bowl caliber guard. Once those guys come back I'll feel a lot better about the line. However I'm just not sold that Stafford is good enough to win, especially against good teams. He missed so many WRs yesterday with wild passes that were behind them. He rarely hits anyone in stride - our guys have to go up high or stop to catch everything.

Defense...sigh. Guessing it'll be bad regardless of when Levy comes back. The problem is that if we can't stop teams, this offense can't outscore them. We're basically fucked when a team scored 21-24 on us...

I'd bet money that Caldwell will take over playcalling at some point this year. Lombardi is fucking incompetent.

I totally sympathize with not believing in Stafford, but here's the thing: in terms of raw ability and talent, who else are you gonna get on the free agent market that is gonna do a better job? With qbs these days, I feel like you either suffer or draft and develop a qb into an efficient system player. Andrew Luck isn't available even every year in the draft, and if he is he's going first or second pick, so you can't count on that.

I agree, just saying that efficiency may not win us a Super Bowl, but I'd rather have someone perform over a guy who can't live up to his potential while making one too many stupid mistakes.

I feel ya. The issue is designing and running an offense based around that, then drafting and developing the players for it. Y'alls eggs are kinda all in the basket you've got now. Sucks to waste Megatron on this scheme, but that appears to be the reality of it.

You're 100% right. Reminds me of that WSJ article posted earlier about NFL coaches being very concerned about how dumb college QBs are these days. How do you bet the farm on finding the handful of guys who can do the job...I dunno.

My general view is that Stafford should be allowed to be Stafford. He is basically Favre, with a better arm. Let him slang it. He's going to turn the ball over, but he's also going to put up videogame numbers. Simplify the game, let him go no huddle, and build a decent enough defense to ensure his fuck ups don't cost you the game. Right now they're trying to make him Drew Brees. He's not accurate enough to do what Brees does....

Stafford is one of the worst QBs in history in terms of decision making. His numbers only look good because he gets to throw so much. He puts up a ton of empty yards.

Browns are going with McCown this week. I guess I'm okay with it and it probably shows Manziel isn't ready for a leadership role but jesus fuck can we please not be the laughing stock of the league just once? Just one year.

In fact if it wasn't for the Redskins and 49'ers we'd be the focus of every sportscenter experts "things NFL teams do wrong" every week.

The Lions season is officially over. We'll almost certainly be 0-5 going into week 6. If the Detroit Lions were a competent or event decently run organization, the offseason would look like this:

1. Martin Mayhew would be fired as GM and the entire front office would be cleared out. Losing Suh was bad but ultimately I wouldn't have paid him QB money (Miami is going to regret that signing, if they aren't already). Losing Suh and not having a replacement ready is the problem for me. Aaron Donald was right there in the draft, ready to be taken. Ready to be groomed by Suh for one year (2014). Instead we took a TE. Another weapon for Stafford.

I'll commend Mayhew for his recent trades and moves. We now have a shit ton of draft picks for the 2016 draft, and can acquire more as my second point will show. I want a fresh, new front office to take advantage of these picks and start the rebuilding process.

2. Calvin Johnson would be traded or cut. Congratulations Detroit, you wasted another Hall of Famer's career. We simply can't justify paying him 16 million next year, I'm sorry. If we were on the verge of success sure, I'd keep him. I'd love to keep him, I think he's a great player and a great guy. But the numbers don't add up. I pray to god he goes to a competent organization and wins a ring. He deserves it.

3. Start looking for another QB. It's clear Stafford is not the guy. What else is there to say? It's 2015. IE 2011 was four years ago. Stop talking about it. Think about your own jobs. If your best year was 4 years ago, and your following years were average to bad/incompetent...would you keep your job? Assuming you don't work for the state or federal government, the answer is no. We cannot give this man an extension. He isn't going to suddenly become an elite QB. He'll always be a turnover prone QB who isn't accurate. That's who he was in college, that's who he is seven years into his career here. Let it go.

Stafford has one more year on his deal, ie next year. He'll be our QB next year, and we'll almost certainly suck again. After that, let him go (or trade him) and start looking for another QB. Maybe Denver would be interested...

-----

But guess what? I wasted 10 minutes writing all that shit because you know what. None of it will happen because we aren't a decent or competent organization. Martha Ford will bring Mayhew back because she likes him. Just as her husband (RIP) kept Matt Millen for 2-3 years longer than he should have. Mayhew will be back, count on it. And he'll waste half of those draft picks on high character guys with low talent ceilings. Once again.

We suck. And we will continue to suck until the Fords die out or sell the team.

Seattle is going to kill Stafford next weekend. My god...

I watched our right tackle get beat on at least three plays in a row. They didn't result in sacks obviously, but the pressure was simply nonstop.
