It's tough to figure out who to pull for in the last game this weekend.

I mean, on the one hand you have a past his prime fetus headed turdburglar. And, you know, on the other you have a rapist.

Guess I'm rooting for meteors.

Pats would honestly probably have more trouble at home with the Steelers. Manning is done, he's not beating anything this season, including his meat. Ride off into the sunset with fewer rings than Eli, breh.

Manning not looking terrible so far. Threw a nice long ball that was a bit too far for the receiver, and on the next passing play through a nice pass that would have been a 1st down if not for a drop.

We sure tried but it's awfully hard when you give up 31 in the first half.

Oh well, it was a fun crazy season. I'm still amazed we made the playoffs after our horrible start to the season.

Oh well.  Steelers played great today with 2nd string players.  Excited for them next year -- they have to be the favorite behind the Patriots next season for sure.  Best offense in the league in my eyes, and a defense developing really well.

Rooting for the Cardinals from now on.

Yea can't really look down on the Steelers given the players they lost. I hope Bell comes back fully healed and ready to ball out next year.

And since we're talking about the Steelers can I shit on Jason Whitlock again?

I shouldn't get rustled at this shit, it's par the course. Last time I checked Tomlin has a Super Bowl ring. And while you could argue his assistants/organization do dumb shit, it's not like they're...oh I don't know, videotaping other team's practices or deflating balls or fucking with headset transmissions. You don't need to create hypotheticals about Bellicheck and how the media would react to xyz...we've already seen how they react to him actually doing (or cosigning) ugly shit. Give me a break.

And if anyone is the most coddled coach in the NFL it's Jeff Fisher. Mr. 8-8, a guy who has turned mediocrity into an art while maintaining employment.

And can we talk about how Colin Cowherd is a blatant racist and sexist yet multi billion dollar corporations don't give a fuck? No woman or black person should go on his show.

I know sports radio has certain gimmicks and a lot of the opinions aren't real, but I don't think Cowheard fakes anything. He's not tapping that white male resentment well for good ratings, that's simply who he is. His John Wall fuckery is basically an elective course on disparaging black athletes: questioning IQ/intellect, dismissing athletic skill, accusations of being a bad role model, speculation on the impact of not having a father in his life...and of course, outrage over irrelevant shit that people find endearing when white people mimic (for reference, see the evolution of middle/older age white people reactions to Cam Newton and dabbing).

And Whitlock in some ways is the opposite side of that sports radio coin. The black guy who "keeps it real" by being outraged over every minor thing black athletes do while telling the audience what they want to hear about negative "black culture." Yet despite filling that role Whitlock doesn't really endear that much support or popularity because every now and then he'll admit racism exists in sports, thus alienating his audience.

brehs I don't see the Peyton can keep up with Carolina. Obviously it'll be the best defense Carolina has played against but Cam just shredded a really good AZ defense. He's going to break multiple plays with his legs, Ware and Miller won't be sacking him all day...

For reference, they played the AFC south and the NFC east, their division is also garbage so 11 out of the 14 teams they've played this year have been awful (to their credit, they have been beating the fuck out of these teams). They let green bay, indianapolis, and seattle in the divisional round make games out of what should've been decided contests, the game in Seattle could've easily been a loss (I'm assuming, didn't catch that one). That said, last night convinced me that these guys are bulletproof at home. Prior to Mathieu going down, arizona was probably the most complete team in the league. Going into this weekend they were certainly the best offense and Carolina turned them over 6 times. They beat a 13 win team by 34 in the second most important game of the season. That's fucking crazy.

Carolina had to come back and win that game at the very end in Seattle.

That said, they annihilated Arizona last night. Really curious to see how Denver holds up against them.

Seems that way, but whenever I think that way, I get surprised by the results.  Seattle beating Denver a few years ago and the Giants beating the undefeated Pats.

In fact, you'd probably have to go back to the mid-90's to find an overwhelming favorite actually blow out the other team.

Actually Carolina was blowing Seattle out until they got conservative in the second half and Wilson sparked the comeback.

The crazy thing is that Cam is doing this without his best receiver (Benjimin). They could be even better next year. And their shitty division ensures they'll be able to get home field advantage in the NFC.

I was referencing you lol. I forgot about the regular season game, was talking about the playoffs.

Looking at the NFC...next season will be interesting. I know the narrative is that Palmer is finished...but he hasn't looked the same since that finger injury last month. He's not a long term solution for the Cards but should be fine again next season. Still that team is behind the Panthers on many levels.

Green Bay seems like they're poised for a downturn. McCarthy sniping at the GM, Rodgers doesn't seem happy, they've whiffed on many draft picks recently, etc.

Seattle is going to have an interesting offseason. Do they bring back Beastmode? What about Kearse? Then there's Russell Okung.

Cowboys?  :doge

I like Kearse, but I'd be fine with letting him walk if he wants too much money. Baldwin, Lockett, Graham and a hopefully healthy Richardson would be solid.

Cam Newton isn't afforded the freedom to fail like so many white quarterbacks who came before him
Quote
Going into the season's last game, some journalists at ESPN and elsewhere were picking Palmer. A not so quite scientific ESPN poll of 58,000 fans picked Tom Brady. The diplomatic Washington Post called it a tie. Can't we all get along?

No. We can't.

Forget the technical points that 1) No. 2) Cam's cast of journeymen wide receivers resemble Ella Fitzgerald more than Larry Fitzgerald, and 3) the Panthers' 15-1 near-perfect record is just not perfect enough.

The real MVP debate tragedy is if Cam had Carson's career, there would be no debate.

Cam would have been driven out of the league by 2012 after Palmer posted his third straight losing season going 12-28. Not Cam or any black quarterback can pull off a career comeback like Carson’s… or Alex Smith’s… or Ryan Fitzpatrick’s.

No black quarterback in NFL history has ever reeked as much as these guys and lived to throw about it.

Ever.

For NFL white quarterbacks, the "Freedom to Fail" is the whitest trait of all.

This postseason may as well be called The White Privilege Playoffs.

Cam can be utterly amazing, but here is what Cam can't do:
Quote
Cam Can't Be Carson Palmer

Not off-the-field either. If Cam refused to report to camp after a 4-12 season and forced a trade like Carson did with the Bengals, he would be branded a "me-first" diva and possibly gone from the league. And if one of Cam's celebration's included Carson's crotch-taunting moves, then more than one mother would be sending a "letter-to-the-editor" about her now corrupted kid.

Palmer's second chances are par for the course for No. 1 QB picks who are white. Before giving up, Tim Couch received 59 starts before the Browns gave up, and David Carr got a whopping 79. Even heralded No. 2 picks get long looks. Five teams took a chance on Rick Mirer, and all-time bust/head case Ryan Leaf had four teams sign him before he voluntarily quit the game.
