For the first time in a couple of years I thought the 49ers had a great shot to beat Seattle in their house this year. You know, with the hawks shitty O-line and a hobbled wussle.

wtf was I thinking?  :lol

Looks like we'll have a lottery draft pick this year  :doge

Ugly indictment loss. Caldwell has to go. The team looked unprepared and lethargic against a bad, undermanned Bears team. Yea we have injuries too but there's no excuse for this, especially on offense.

This means that next year we'll be installing a new offense for the third time in four years. I'd like to start looking into options to trade Stafford. Might as well blow everything up. Fuck it. If Bradford can net a 1st round pick who knows what type of bounty we'd get for Stafford.

The time of Romo better be over.

I love that dude but they better not move Dak to backup.

Ultimately, the Romo era is over. Even if he comes back and plays this season [or even beyond this season], Dak's been way too good to just put him back in the box and hope that Romo's body can hold together.

I've shat on Matt Stafford for years but I gotta say he's played great this season, outside of one game. And he's doing it with no run game, a questionable o-line, and (literally) no tight ends. And no Megatron.

Defense looks bad every week, especially LBs; I feel confident saying we have the worst LBs in the league (with Levy still injured). Middle of the field is always open, LBs and the backs just stand in their zone and watch 10-15 yard completions occur. It's bad.

GB has a top 10 pass block this season (and last season iirc). Last year Rodgers' struggles made sense given the injuries to their weapons and DaVante Adams being trash. This year most of the weapons are fine. Yea you could say Jordy Nelson isn't the player he used to be but still, Rodgers has looked fugly. Did fine last night apparently (I only watched like 5 minutes, fuck TNF).

His mechanics are booty, constantly does not set his feet and throws off his back foot

Decision making is in the dumpster, overlooks wide open routes and it always seems like he doesn't progress past his first read

this pretty much sums it up, he was better vs CHI but was still throwing off his back foot

Rumors

Quote
Jim Caldwell‘s seat was looking pretty hot earlier this month, but talk of a coaching change in Detroit has cooled now that the Lions are on a three-game winning streak. However, things change quickly in the NFL and there’s no guarantee that Caldwell will be back in 2017 if the Lions cannot keep it up in the second half. If there is a head coaching change, Chris Mortensen of ESPN.com hears that Lions GM Bob Quinn would probably consider Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia to Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels.

In a scenario where McDaniels was hired as the Lions’ head coach, current offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter would probably be squeezed out. Given how well Cooter has worked with quarterback Matthew Stafford, the Lions are likely eager to hang on to their OC. And, at the young age of 32, Cooter can probably be kept as OC for at least a few more years.

Of course, the Lions are going to have to make a serious commitment to keep Stafford in place as he excels in his contract year.
https://www.profootballrumors.com/2016/10/lions-matt-patricia-josh-mcdaniel-caldwell

Makes sense. While I'm glad that we're winning I can't help but also hope we barely miss the playoffs and Caldwell gets fired. I just don't believe the team can make a next step with him. Patricia would be my choice. Next year the defense HAS to be rebuilt, and I like the idea of bringing in a defense minded coach. I'd hope we keep a 4-3 defense, and I know the Pats moved to 4-3 a couple seasons ago iirc so he clearly has experience; you can't install a 3-4 if you have trash LBs and an always injured pro bowler (Levy).

Also agree that keeping Cooter makes a lot of sense given Stafford's transformation. Bringing in a defensive coach would probably increase the odds of him keeping Cooter, and I think our GM could sell the idea to him.
