Game is so good. I haven't felt this good about fps games in a long time but between this and Overwatch I'm excited about the genre again. I think Doom does something really special that games strive to do but fail to and that makes it something rather rare. It sets out to be a Doom game and it damn well is and a good one at that.

I hope the game sells well enough

I used it throughout the entire fight! It was awesome dodging and jumping around getting in close at just the right time to BOOM BOOM with the shotgun. Man that was satisfying.

And I like that they didn't give the second part shields, it made it easier but it was more FUN. Giving them shields would have made it frustrating.

Finished game on Nightmare. The last couple levels were a chore. Stuffing all those enemies in the tincan arenas. Just amounted to BFG spam and hoping I got another drop from an enemy (thanks to the upgraded Rune).

You can't bump the difficulty up once you start a playthrough. Gotta start from the start if you want to play on Nightmare.

afaik ultra nightmare is the same thing as nightmare but with permadeth. i mean it sounds hard af but i was hoping for something that modified the rules like nightmare in the first three games.

finally beat it. god damn what a fantastic game. best action I've played in years and easily the best single player fpsi played since i dunno when. I've always been disappointed at how few fps built on dooms gameplay, with most of them offering similar but lesser action and instead differentiating themselves by environment and later, realism. there's so much potential to make great arcade action in the genre and i hope doom will inspire others to experiment more.

beyond that, i really really need a fucking expansion and a sequel to this like RIGHT NOW. snapmaps aren't cutting it. also i hope they scrap the multiplayer expansions and focus on more single player bc multi is already mostly dead lol.

tldr buy this game or you are a failure at life who doesn't appreciate good things
