The Premier League is the most-watched football league in the world, broadcast in 212 territories to 643 million homes and a potential TV audience of 4.7 billion people. In the 2010–11 season, the average Premier League match attendance was 35,363, the second highest of any professional football league behind the German Bundesliga, and stadium occupancy was 92% capacity.

Here is an example of the NFL in america (for those whom aren't here)The Cleveland Browns have been one of the worse teams in the NFL since their return. They have been to the playoffs once and their median record in probably something like 5-11 for the last 10 year. They have a 70,000+ seat stadium with 80.00 average seats and 10 dollar beer...crazy huh? Well they have sold out every game since they have returned...every FUCKING game has 100,000 people downtown in Cleveland. As big as the Cav's are going to be this year and for the next few, this will always be a football town. Other football towns: Dallas, Chicago, Denver, Seattle, San Fransisco, etc.......in fact outside of NYC and Miami (LOL) I can't think of one city were the NFL isn't the king dog by a 100 miles.

His personality is like the quiet, "humble" guy. He's also FIFA's golden boy. Messi is popular because of his skills on the pitch, not his looks or personality.
It's easy to forget how popular the NBA is in China. LeBron being the most popular athlete in the US and China seals the deal. And it's worth noting his endorsements are about to go through the roof now that he's back in (lol) Cleveland. From a business perspective it was a perfect move.
Still, LeBron wasn't No. 1 among all athletes on that list. Nor is he the most followed on Twitter, the most "liked" on Facebook or even the highest rated on Starcount. At present, those distinctions belong to the superstars of the world's most popular game: soccer.
(Note: David Beckham, Michael Jordan, Lionel Messi and Phil Mickelson were left off due to their respective absences from Twitter. In Messi's case, his official Twitter account is a fan account run by Adidas. As for Kaka, he failed to crack Forbes' Celebrity 100 this year.)It's tough for LeBron to win out when Cristiano Ronaldo is tops among the three social media categories and just so happens to be the best (and highest-paid) player on one of the most celebrated and supported football clubs in the known universe.
