The problem GAF face is the increased flow of dialog between an even greater number of members across thousands of threads. Any single member cannot even begin to hope to get a sample of every little intellectual or non-intellectual exchange made on the site, and as such they're either relegated to an observer status, become wandering forumite never finding rest, or focus their energy on the micro-cosms that community threads represent.
Or, you begin venturing outside of the main forum, find yourself a smaller off-shoot with members dedicated to parsing the greater forumverse and posting the highlights - giving you the overview you've been longing for since day immemorial.
