To be fair: He's (kinda) right. Republicque was mobile. As soon as that was announced a lot of backers for the kickstarter dropped off and a lot of people that were interested didn't bother to give it the time of day. That planned PC release (did it even happen) was supposed to help, but I don't think it did.
I think a
lot of people, like you say, knew it was Payton and Company hyping and trying to sell it to people. Unfortunately for them, going mobile-only killed a lot of hype from the base that Payton had (console gamers, working with Kojima on a title and 343 for like... 3 months before going mobile).
Quinn is a bit on a different level, she is on PC/console/non-mobile so she's on a bigger "target board" for "gamers."
I don't disagree that there are too many axes in the fire now. The same damn thing happened with the Occupy movement: Good intentions, but the internet/"Anonymous" started to shit it up with it's many-headed voices that couldn't get a consistent message out there is happening here.
