I was fairly active in that first thread about Quinn wherein EviLore posted the support emails and responses, but I find myself largely out of the loop on this one. I mean, I've followed it. But not as actively as staying out in front of this clusterfuck really necessitates.

Also, I know you're probably largely being facetious, but I do think it's worth pointing out that moderation over there is entirely voluntary and comes with no minimum expectation of effort, really. Like I said, I know you're probably just joking there with an overly paranoid observation, but no SOS goes out when something like this occurs. I don't get a call on my dedicated GAF phone wherein EviLore says "Hey, get your ass away from that other forum and stay on top of this #GamerGate situation. I expect a report in an hour!"

I don't really think I'm the person to defer to on it, but my best explanation for the situation is that #GamerGate is a largely contrived grass roots situation. To compare it to a political movement, it's a lot like conservatives trying to insist that we need to look into what really happened with Benghazi wherein there's maybe a small handful of people actually concerned that something nefarious actually occurred there and the rest are just using it as a smokescreen to deride Obama. But in this current example, Obama is "Gaming Social Justice Warriors."

There's a scattering of people that really believe that Gaming Journalism has some things to answer for and that this is as good a time as any to call for ethical reform. The rest just want the Zoe Quinn's and Anita Sarkeesians of the world to shut the fuck up and leave vidya alone.

I think he's pretty decent at writing (and I think he's in the profession), but every time I see a Neiteio post or thread, I want to die from cringe due to his ultra-hyperbole throughout his posts.  It weirds me out a little that he's become semi-elevated to being an excellent poster on the forum when much of it comes from hyperbolic statements and a certain fanbase clinging to his every word.  The sad thing is that he used to be a better poster (and still can be at times) until he got sucked into the celebrity of being "that guy with the really long hyperbolic posts, especially if they're about Nintendo games and boy we love our Father Nintendo's games don't we".

There's a lot of good content in there, but it gets so lost in a bulk of hyperbole or unnecessary flowering and overcompensation that it leaves a bad aftertaste.  It's just video games, man.  Keep your pants on and try not to mess 'em up from unstoppable dripping.  Writing long posts is great.  Writing long posts where the bulk of it is hyperbole is a turn-off.
