Can we cut the cultural appropriation crap? It's annoying as fuck. Music is music. If Izzy sucks, criticize her on the merits, not because her style is a "black" style.
Now if she does a video in blackface, then we can talk.
Thank you. So tired of this shit. Hip hop doesn't belong to black people.
The crabs in the barrel approach to female rappers always baffled me. It's as if they legit believe there can only be one "big" female rapper at a time, and when a new one arrives she must automatically have beef with whoever is on top. When Nicki came out she got pushback from Remi Ma and Lil Kim. When Foxy Brown was hot she was beefing with Lil Kim as well. Granted male rappers go at east other all the time but there are always a bunch of "big" male rappers, whereas how many times does that happen with females? Foxy and Kim were pretty big at the same time, but that's about it. And when I say "big" I'm talking commercial success so don't bring up Da Brat, who is obviously an amazing rapper but just wasn't a commercial star like Nicki or Iggy right now.
Shit is wack. Iggy is having fun pretending to be a rapper, let her cook. She can co-exist with Nicki.
i mean Kim and Foxy were never stars at the level of Nicki either, but they had radio hits and were known by white people, so by that standard there were plenty of times when lots of females coexisted in the industry: Latifah, Salt n Pepa, Brat, Kim, Foxy, Lauryn, Missy, Left-Eye, Eve, all existed on the radio at the same time, all did tracks with each other without problems. This was also a time when each crew had the token female who was allowed to at least be on songs and would get their own 1 hit occasionally, Trina, Gangsta Boo, Shawnna, Rah Digga, Mia X, those Crime Mob girls etc.
now though, much like in videogames, the mid-tier female rapper has been eliminated but this time it has more to do with dumb label politics and an industry that pretends that it's not possible to have more than 1 female out at once, females beefin with each other doesn't have anything to do with it imo.
