This dosen't even make any sense. You're telling us to not base are opinions on a guys work when that work has taken up most of his life. Who cares if he supposedly didn't want to make those games. He still did so that's not an excuse. That's the work he put out. You want us to look at games that are 20 years old and have no bearing on what the guy makes now? That's stupid.
Do you have a single gameplay complaint? The only thing I'm saying is stop judging the dude on the stupid stories he had to juggle into games he never planed for. MG wasnt supposed to be a series that spanned this many games and it shows.

In this thread also, not a single gameplay complaint it's always "BUT THE STORY" the hell guys?

Also the guy went into MGS2 saying it's going to be his last, that's the first time I remember him saying he wanted to stop, but it's clear the he was pressured into turning it into a franchise as of MGS2 and never allowed to hand it off. You think that's how he wanted to end it if it was his supposed last? MGS is a more convincing end with all the return chars finishing their stories.

On which game?

MGS4 is trash. It's stealth is completely garbage that brings nothing to the table. You might as well just shoot through the game at some points. Never mind it being completely easy and offering no real interesting scenarios beyond some parts in Acts 1 and 2. The entire idea of stealth on the battlefield which would have done what the jungle did in MGS3 is half assed. First, the battlefield is not in constant motion. So  "no place hide" was a lie and didn't amount to anything. Also the entire "chose your faction thing" is hilariously implemented to the point that they shouldn't have even left it in. You automatically are on the milita side basically. The game never does anything intersting with the battlefield idea beyond act's assualt on a villia.

Then the game drops it for Act 3 for a very tedious "follow this dude" that goes on forever. Followed by a MGS3 retread. Act 4 then just says screw it and throws in a rudimentary stealth section. Act 5 says screw everything and gives you a room with stealth and then a hallway you run through.

All the boss battles lack imagination. First boss is run around and shoot at odd things. Gets boring after the first battle. Battle 2 is "hey the ground is falling apart, I guess you should shoot her". Boss 3 is I guess a boring stealth battle where it's just easier to run up to her and shoot her. Vamp battle is a crappy horde mode and then who knows what the fuck that "lol Psycho Mantis" thing was. None of the boss battles in MGS4 have anything going for them.

PW is complete garbage. The ai is dumb and the levels so small you can just go in a corner and shoot the guards. Or just run up to them and cqc. Thoughtful stealth? Forget about it. The boss battles are so annoyingly shitty. They take forever to kill on solo play. They aren't hard. Since they lack anything creative about them, it's just you shooting rockets and then waiting for more ammo.  Have fun repeating that for like 10 mins plus. of course you could level up your weapons buy replaying the missions over and over. Grinding! Yay. Grind through the most braindead stealth missions ever.

Terrible game. Kojima's last two games have been terrible in story and gameplay.

Quote
In this thread also, not a single gameplay complain it's always "BUT THE STORY" the hell guys?
Actually I mentioned that Kojima has lacked those really interesting interactive moments in his last few games.

How? MGS ends with them revealing there is in fact another clone and that Ocelot is up too far more then he let on. MGS1 ends on a cliffhanger. If anything MGS2 seems to be his most personal game.

My favorite Metal Gear moment was the former President of the United States--who now lead an armed insurgency calling itself the Sons of Liberty--fighting a nefarious organization called the Patriots and having that insurgency culminate on the roof of the United States' first capitol.

I forgot to mention that the president is the son of a man colloquially known as Big Boss.

Like at no point in the creative process did someone sit back and lay this all out on the table and see how asinine it was. It's truly beautiful. :lawd

Nah you fucked up if you think PW is a good game. Unless of course you like a baby stealth game and un-creative and thoughtless boss battles. Because that's what the game is. HD version is even easier thanks to the ability to aim well. Never mind it having a story that shits on the Boss and keeps changing Big Boss' character for no reason.

MGS 2 Substance is legit one of the best games ever made.

Hated the direction of the series since Portable Ops, but at least Kojima still knows how to make good games. (as long as he doesn't kill the game part by pulling an MGS4, that is)

That's why I had such high hopes for MGS4. I was probably the biggest MG fan ever at the time. MGS4 came out, loved it until the end of act 2, was bored and confused afterward, ending kinda bought me back, then the epilogue broke me. I tried to convince myself it was great and eventually reevaluated my priorities in life.

Kojima isn't forced to take control of every MGS game. He does that himself because he's a control freak with an auteur complex. He doesn't trust anyone else to play with his toys and refuses to let them go.
We're all obviously speculating, but from interviews I get the impression he gets told to do it.

Quote
If we judge his games divorced from the stories, you have a bunch of clunky stealth games that are years behind the design of other contemporary games. They're not bad to play, but let's not pretend the series gets the bulk of its attention for reasons outside the cinematic presentation and convoluted stories.
I enjoy the gameplay, I havent played it in a stealth way since my first playthroughs of MG and MG2. I play it as action games with a stealth twist. Also cant care why people give the games attention, if they are for the stories, they deserve all the salt forming inside.

ivysaur12 got banned on GAF? Surprised. Of course, I used to have a huge crush on him as he's a stunningly hot gay dude who works at ABC and also has a hardon for defending fraternities from any and all criticism.

Do you know what for?

I only really remember seeing him a lot in the various TV threads.
i'm asking here, as I don't know. but I guess yeah probably the rape consent thread though I wonder what he said that got him banned? He's usually pretty reasonable about things.
