I've heard of similar situations to the last story.  In the instance I was familiar with it was in construction in 2008-2009.  This guy kept bouncing from homebuilder to homebuilder until they went tits up.  Fortunately he didn't have kids and he just wound up socking all the money he made because he wasn't sure if he'd have a job the next day.  I know some people paid him under the table to do some things here and there.  Finally in 2011, he became a foreman for a construction company and has been working with them ever since and might be a superintendent now.

Yup, WoW streaming isnt really hot anymore. Even the best PVP guys get 3-4k, and top players from the best guilds get 2-3k aswell. People like Soda, Toweliee and Lirik dont even stream WoW that much anymore. They just jump from game to game to keep everyone entertained. All streamers are on dat H1Z1 trip right now.

When did they ruin it? If the answer given is RE4
:neogaf

Code Veronica, RE Zero, RE PS1 lightgun game, RE PS2 lightgun styled game, these are some of the competent but not so great RE games that came out long before RE4. RE Outbreak, Resident Evil games that weren't ported to the PS2 and were exclusive to the best selling system at the time, didn't do so hot sales wise.

I don't think you're thinking this through. What you're basically saying is if a pretty woman can't get by on her determination, brains or ambition, she needs to slang that pussy and get a man.

That would be horrible advice to give to a daughter or niece.

When did they ruin it?

Easy: Code Veronica. Brought Wesker back from the dead (turning him into a Mary Sue. Then killed him off stupidly in a volcano because they couldn't do shit with him after Mikami was leading him up to being a big-bad super-villain with a bunch of viruses), terrible antagonist (Ashfords), just unfun campaign to go through.

0 has faults but it would've been superficial if it didn't have that stupid item gimmick to force you to use both characters.

Gun Survivor 1/"Survivor" was alright, but the lack of Guncon support in America was :what

Outbreak is about the only "old-school" post 3/Last Escape of the series worth the time.

4 was alright, but not a Resident Evil series entry.

5 was okay, but continuing on the downward spiral of turning the series into something it isn't.

6 was hot flaming :trash and there is nothing redeeming for it in regards to the series. The only GOOD thing I can say about 6 is that Mercenaries was alright with the "new system" they introduced. But everything about 6 was terrible otherwise and the series REALLY didn't need a third-person-shooter make-over.

It's telling when a re-release of a remake of the original sells faster than most anything Capcom has put out digitally. Which includes 4/5/6 on Steam and elsewhere.

I don't disagree that 4 is great. But as far as a "Resident Evil" entry it's really not a Resident Evil title in anything but name, using Leon and Umbrella. There's very little "survival horror" about it. I get Mikami wanting to change the formula up, but he changed it too much to where it didn't really feel "scary" or anything. The game was basically campy for campy sake. Just like "no thanks, bro" being included.

crazy shit. re6's combat redeemed any other shortcomings.  ::)

Not really. 6's combat systems only shine in Mercenaries and that Tetris-like Merc mode. Anywhere else and it's just frustrating bullshit.

RE4 was scary in the sense that you didn't know what was coming next, and some of the positions the game put you in were pretty damn tense.

Like the first time you run into a Regenerator...those things were pretty scary.

That transgender thread is hilarious.  People beating up others over the head for dating preferences.

It's always framed from a men's perspective.  There are many cis females that would never want to date a transexual male as well.  It doesn't make them evil for having preferences. Nothing wrong with men having similar preferences.

In my experience, trans tend to end up with other trans.

The cheese and camp in RE4 was unintentional, the translation team hired did a terrible job translating the game. Hell, The villagers don't even speak the correct form of Spanish based on their location.

Resident Evil as a franchise isn't scary, in fact almost every other popular or once popular horror franchise does the horror bits better. RE4 having a lot more going on combat wise makes shit a lot more tense than situations in older games, you have to be aware of your surroundings constantly.

Psychological horror is a much better form of horror versus survival horror. What's the worst that can happen in RE 1 through 3? You die a painful but quick death? RE4 on paper is actually more terrifying, being trapped in some isolated European shit hole while also being infected is a daunting task.

I enjoy the older games and agree with this sentiment.

I loved Resident Evil 2. I loved Resident Evil 4. Those games are both completely amazing despite being completely different. I'm not sure I analyze it that deep honestly rather than looking at the merits of what each brought to the table. Things change. It's a constant.

Agree and disagree. Agree that other series did horror better (though honestly I find Silent Hill's "psychological horror" flat, personally) but 3's Nemesis chasing-you areas was probably more tense than the Regenerators or the Chainsaw Gando's in 4 for me.

Then again the only time I legitly panicked and "OH SHIT"d out loud during 4 was knifing the wooden boxes and having a snake pop-out. Legit surprised me more than the "jump scares" in previous titles, so I'll give 4 a point on that front. Mostly because it changed the "oh you're doing a knife on a box?" tempo after a lot of people got used to doing that to save ammo.

Fun fact, I played RE4 through twice, once on GC and then again on the Wii. First time was after recovering from food poisoning, the other time was when I was home with a particularly bad flu. Through the fevered fog it impressed on me that it was one of my favorite games of all time, but I honestly remember absolutely nothing about it other then the beginning village and there being a flamboyant midget

RE4 is the only RE game I've finished. Played the PS2 version. Loved it until the spooky castle which I thought wasn't as interesting. Then it got to zombie biker island where they shot gatling guns and everything was lame and dumb.

RE5 sucks balls.

I played like 2 hours of the RE1 HD thing on PC. Seems ok, a bit tedious.

Preferences. It seems the thread has degenerated to arguing about gender though.

If you read the thread, those who state preference for cis females----I'm just using that term for clarification--are somehow bigoted for that preference. Even the site owner has stated such a preference in the past. Many people, regardless of their sex or gender identity have preferences. That's all.  It does not mean their bigots for stating it?

But the thread has devolved into this "cismale" privilege clusterfuck.  Have you read the full thread?

ok, so I would never date non-cis women, but I prefer the female sex...is that the correct way of saying it?   Seems like that kind of thread just seeks to trap people over the word "gender."  no pun intended.

I don't particularly understand how any of this has relevance to the situation

New resident evil is like having a wonderful date with a woman, then you find out she has a bigger dick than you

Would you date a regenerator?

i don't know that you can't call the early entries horror.

i mean, back in the day, that stuff got me pretty good. lots of great imagery and moments. the one that pops to my mind is a scene from the remake where you enter a long hall (i forget which) and your angle is intentionally obstructed. all you see are the shadows of zombie hands banging on the windows projected on the adjacent wall. of course, you know they're going to crash through when you walk by.

i was wondering how this thread could be real in 2015, but then i read " I've tried to steer him towards what I consider to be higher quality and age-appropriate games -- mostly via the Wii, Wii U and 3DS" and everything made sense
