So, my girlfriend has never seen the Star Wars movies and everyone including her own family call her out on this all the time. We've been dating for 5 years and I know it sounds silly but as a big movie buff, it's kind of annoying me inside that she has seen Fifty Shades of Grey twice but not a single Star Wars film. She thinks they're sic-fi but they're actually adventure films to me (action, humor, drama) so I KNOW she'll love them.
She has finally agreed to watch them (out of sheer pity) but with a lot of negativity towards it and will only watch a couple of them for now. So I'm not showing her the prequels first because I'm worried she'll be turned off and wonder what all the hype was about but I'm also worried she's going to be turned off after seeing A New Hope.
Now, what if I were to edit ANH down to say 20-40 minutes so she understands the main characters, their motivations and the general ideas behind the series. That way, her first couple of movies can technically be Empire and Jedi. Basically, I want her to get to Empire as soon as possible then have a blast with Jedi.
What scenes should I keep in A New Hope? Important plot that only pertains to that film alone isn't needed. Also, is it a good idea? Is there a chance if I showed her Episode 4 in it's entirety, she'd say no to watching Empire? I had to vent about this.
nerds, stop.
