A couple weeks ago I made a comment about how a handful of posters on GAF are about as open as they can be about their unconventional desires short of publicly admitting it. This applied to multiple people, but this poster is the exact motherfucker I had in mind when I made that comment. Mauricio_Magus is a pedophile. There's no ambiguity at all.

You don't really need any evidence beyond the avatar....but that post content, jesus christ.  I dunno how that dude's still allowed to exist on there.

Hi all, I finally decided to join here after lurking on and off for years and seeing how comparatively well adjusted this place is (Creepy Stalker notwithstanding) compared to what GAF has declined into. The final straw was when I started to wonder what happened to empty vessel, one of my favorite GAF posters, the other day and saw that this was his final post 5 months ago:

The thread was created as a mechanism to limit meaningful discussion about US and EU foreign policy, as evidenced by the fact that, shortly after this thread was created, the thread which spurred the creation of this thread as a place to avoid the deeper discussion of the issues that was occurring there was closed. Most of the content of this thread is the same as the other thread, with the exception of dissent. When dissent enters, the moderators appear to remind us it is a news thread.

The moderators are just serving as enforcers of politically acceptable thought and discussion here. There's nothing necessarily wrong with that as a general principle. It's what allows moderators to act against racist, sexist, and homophobic content, which I support. But acting in that manner on an issue like this is totally unacceptable to me. It's why I don't bother posting on neogaf anymore.

I kind of feel bad for Opiate, he seems like on of the few rational mods remaining on that site who won't ban you just for having an opinion he doesn't like, seemingly an increasingly exclusive club. The problem is that since GAF is a video game website and frequented by a lot of minors, it isn't really the place for those kind of discussions or to be fostering an environment where pedos feel safe posting. I do have some sympathy for his plight though, even if he slipped up by posting that thread.

Been posting on GAF since around 2001-2002, before Evilore took over it and it became Neogaf. I don't remember exactly how I found out about the splinter forums, but I did also know about OA and lurk here a few times when it was still Evilbore.

Huh, going by that, Demon Gaze looks about as objectionable as Neptunia.  Makes sense I guess.

And yeah, eroge OTs.  Saya no Uta has one, which has an underage-looking girl in it, which logically should make it FAR more objectionable than anything rated by the ESRB.  Thing is people aren't idiots in those threads and there was no censorship debacle.  Dungeon Travelers and Criminal Girls both had civil import OTs (as Bebpo can tell you).  Wasn't until the controversy started that they got banned.

I was thinking at first that from an advertising perspective it would be really fucking easy to segment Creepy-GAF and run targeted ads at them, which would explain why Lore would want to keep them around. The one downside to this logic is that I don't think the companies that put out pedo-bait shit are even allowed on AdSense.

I'm taking a digital marketing class right now, actually, but we haven't covered a lot of this stuff yet.

There's Crunchyroll ads all over the damn place on Gaf, and I've definitely seen NISA ones too.  Hell, I feel like I saw a Criminal Girls one back in February.

I think EL doesn't outright ban animegaf because of the CR ads.  Dude is probably making bank on those alone.

I think when NBA-GAF got kicked off the forum, there was some debate about whether they should migrate somewhere or start their own forum, and I saw The Bore referenced there.

Most of the normal people seemed to disappear from GAF once the sports threads got banned. I say that as someone who doesn't even really like sports. Now the place seems to be dominated by people with little life experience and extremely thin skin. It's not healthy.
