nah lena is fucked up and she's wrong and she's doing damage by what she's saying

Again, this goes back to some sick idea that male sexuality is violence. These people aren't worried about Verlander or any of the men involved. I can't say it's because the files were stolen from the actresses account, because I'm pretty sure the attitude would be the same if they were female celebs taken from a guy's account. Hell, I am sure there would be talk about how awful it is men would save nudes of women they are no longer dating.

As long as people are sexually attracted to women then they're going to look. You don't get to tell people their sexuality is wrong. Of course, there's going to be varying levels of perving on this, but I doubt there's such delcacy held iin her point of view. Outrage gonna outrage.

Howeva, when you throw around weighted terms over this you just weaken the terms you use in the public's eye and do harm to the case of people in real danger. A narcisstic celebs bevy of self nudes spilling out of the Cloud doesn't need to be put on the same level as a word like "violation". Especially when you link it with the term sex offender and make it some sexual violation.  Save that for eastern european girls being forced into porn. You are just weakening the word violation.

Anyways, lack of intellectual cowardice.  :aah

Realizing you can kickstarter this shit and just not caring to exploit folks  :fbm

"Why aren't women doing men's work too?" Check.

Strawperson of (some) feminists' attitudes towards (aspects of--e.g. street harassment) male sexuality? Check.

(Despite being cis het scum I hang out with "all straight male sexuality is rape" feminists, and I sincerely doubt you've ever even met one (maybe on a college campus), let alone be able articulate their viewpoint in a meaningful manner.)

"Someone else has it worse than you so shut up?" Check.

BTW, legalese has already rendered violation a fairly benign word. I'm sure you take great issue with driving while talking on a mobile phone without a handsfree device being classed a moving violation by the State of California.

/r/mensrights is thattaway.

"She should complain about men too" isn't the point. Reading comprehension fail. The point is the gendered viewpoint and how it relates to male sexuality as violence.

I've sat in on conferences where male sexuality as violence is the undertone. My friends are all quite liberal leaning. My friends are the basis of some of my experience with this. "You haven't met anyone like this except maybe at college" So I have met them? I am not sure what you're saying here, because there's nothing you've said here as is there nothing in the whole reply. Tthis has no relevance. If it's there then it's there. You're like taking "I'm not racist, I have black friends" and flipping it over to the other side. Clever tactic, but really weird to see in action.

I'm aware of the grey area that much legalese has gotten to on these sort of things. I'm not cool with that myself. Stalking, violation, etc. It's onvercompensation for the sake of protecting women. There's a danger in that, too. However, I am not arguing legalese.

Next time, try relevant points.   :miyamoto

Also, I guess this hands out collateral damage to the crowd. Congrats on those bags of dicks I guess. Learn to read the text instead of falling for pot shots.

Aside from Verlander and the 5SoS boy's photos (great ass and dick respectively) has there been any more male celeb leaks? Thanks.

I'm honestly not sure what Etoilet is arguing.

Let's try some simple yes/no questions with him.

1) Are the acquisition and subsequent leaking of the pics a violation of privacy?

2) Is violation of privacy a bad thing?

3) Should people looking at these pics feel at least a little bad?

4) Does some nebulous "nature of male sexuality" concept give men a pass for having to feel bad about looking at these pics?

Or, we could just all agree that thousands of hours of MMOs turns one into a distinguished mentally-challenged fellow.

As long as there's racism, yeah. Which is a yes.

It's rather different from the legalese being put into murky waters. AA checks to make sure the system is fair. Grey area legalese isn't any sort of oversight.

the best writing in the wake of this is clearly InfoSec Taylor Swift: http://swiftonsecurity.tumblr.com/post/96417066244/ifmyphonegothacked

additional tweets:

ICLOUD UPDATE: " a very targeted attack on user names, passwords and security questions" http://t.co/0AMiTUMS6Q

Celebrity photo leak being result of an amalgam of targeted attacks instead of 1 iCloud vulnerability explains inconsistent data and leaks.

As hinted at with the help of my follower community yesterday, the raw leak data showed a possible collection of various datasources.

ICLOUD LEAK: STILL UNCLEAR: What role an Apple oversight in password attempt ratelimiting played a role in helping attackers guess passwords

BIGGER PICTURE: Attacks on celebrity data an ongoing activity by multiple attackers. Lawrence leaks inspired others to show own spoils?

TAKEAWAY: Sensitivity of data stored is not reflected in the authentication and security practices enforced on users.

There is no Celebrity Computer Security 101 course, except in large formal representation companies. They are, in the end, just people.

CELEBRITIES THAT WANT TO UP SECURITY: "The Smart Girl's Guide to Privacy" has fast, practical, understandable advice http://t.co/huOk84izEI

Normal user precautions are not enough for VIP targets. They will guess passwords for years, deep personal research for security answers.

I will post later on how computer security masks it's own design and assumption problems by blaming users for any breaches.

If Computer Security people were in charge of society we'd go extinct. They'd insist sex was unsafe and no one should do it ever.

It's easy to make pronouncements on "not taking nude photos" being the obvious security solution when you've been airgapped your whole life.

"Leak" is a fun word. Like private nude photos have been kept from the public through oppression, need enterprising hackers to expose them?

I refuse to fuck around with that, I know a 19 year old that was dating a 16 year old, she sent him pics, her parents found out about it and he ended up on a sex offenders list and had to wear an ankle bracelet for a year. It was legal for him to fuck her but not have pics.

Didn't click on them cause she wasn't one I wanted to see. The fact that they exist though :fbm
Do you think that's uncommon though?

''ex-gf'' as a porn genre is generally images sent in trust that have been uploaded without consent. Do you think no one does this before they are 18? Do you think all those teens you can find on porn sites posing in front of bathroom mirrors are 18+?

This case blew up because the targets were well known celebrities with legal recourse. Very few people have that. When Scarlett Johanson's pictures were stolen people seemed shocked that there even was legal recourse.

(moral of the story: only jerk it to 40yo cuckold vids)

Because of these eventualities, I would guess. Still kinda weird.

As someone who (still) surveys the questionable content on Motherless... Yeah, pretty much.

On The Media covered some famous "shame your ex-gf" site once and even interviewed the owner. His site got shut down.

I'm fisking this bitch, fortunately Mandark is too much of a mensch to be in this thread and tut-tut me.

As long as people are sexually attracted to women then they're going to look.  You don't get to tell people their sexuality is wrong.

For whatever reason you're conflating innate sexuality with conduct.  People are born in to their sexuality, and they don't have much choice in terms of what gender they identify with or what they are attracted to.  Okay.  But to say there's no such thing as culpability when it comes to how people go about gratifying themselves is something literally no sane person believes.  Because otherwise little children and the corpses of our long dead relatives would be violated constantly, and all we'd be able to do is shrug our shoulders and say "welp, we don't get to tell people their sexuality is wrong".  It isn't so difficult to recognize the distinction between addressing sexual behaviors that are harmful and condemning sexuality as a whole.

To reiterate, Lena Dunham was not saying that being a male who is attracted to a woman is wrong. This is something you made up.  See here:

Again, this goes back to some sick idea that male sexuality is violence.

"She doesn't mention anything like this in the tweet but I'm sure this all goes back to something I've been internally monologueing since puberty, for you see...."

"Maybe there's actually more nuance to what she's saying but that would be a waste of time to consider.  Furthermore, how am I supposed to have an intelligent discussion when no one is even willing to take me seriously?!?!"

We link sexuality with conduct. That's why we look down on laws that prohibit homosexual acts. Of course if you want to compare these things to fucking little children then go right ahead. Won't join you tho. =D

Lena is calling this a violation. Others are calling it worse. Why? I'm sorry but that doesn't hold up. It's not an attack. It's not a violation. Spin it, but you make an ass of yourself doing so. Did they have privacy invaded? Yes. But there's a lot to this that puts in place where's not some violation if you or I look at the pictures. They aren't pictures taken against their knowledge. They aren't pics taken against their will. They are, as I said, pretty much boudoir photos. Just the modern gonewild version of it.

But why would they jump that far? Why not just say "guys looking at this are creepy" or just sling whatever other little jab at guys looking at nudes of famous women. Why the language of violation? (Or in Patricia Arquette's view "public molestation") My view, from experience with the cultures lingering around this, is that it's got to do with some fucked up view of male sexuality. Disagree if you want. I'll wager you'll be saying what I'm saying in some new verbage within 8 years time. It's something that exists but it just isn't really being looked at much. I am looking at it. You can have no faith in my intelligence, my honesty or my life experience, but it has nothing to do with any cartoonish view of me you've concocted in your mind.
