There is a hotline in WA to report HOV violations. What kills me is that someone was so bothered that they took the time to call and report me. I know my daughter is hard to see in the backseat, but I'm not going to cheat the system.

:lol

My wife noticed that I trimmed her hydrangeas too short this Fall. She yelled at me in the front yard so our neighbor came out and was concerned. :lol

Yeah I don't know when all this shit started...or has it always been that way in white neighborhoods? Where I grew up you didn't get involved in marital/family affairs....best to leave that shit alone.

And honestly if I was outside and I heard your wife yelling at your about cutting your hydrangeas too short I'd just giggle and say "white folks" to myself and keep doing what I was doing.
YMMV

in my experience that is definitely a "shitty old white lady with too much time on her hands" problem. use to have to deal with those assholes complaining about every little thing - cutting through their yard, cussing outside, having the music up in my car. an old lady that lived across from my brother used to get the cops on his gf because she'd go down the street and check to see who's plates were expired :lol

When I was a kid we'd organize basketball games with some of the kids in our suburban subdivision. There was this one weird kid a couple houses down that we didn't let play with us because he'd spit on people. He never passed the ball (he'd either shoot the ball or get it stolen from him no matter what), and if you stole the ball he spit on your shoes. We banned him from playing with us, and even gave him a second chance after he promised not to spit anymore but he did it again. So we banished him, and someone (not me!) called him Dickolas (since his name was Nicholas). He ran away crying. Mind you this guy was 11 years old at the time, well above the age of acting like that big of a bitch.

His mom proceeded to call the police on us 3 times that summer for being "too loud" outside, playing basketball...
:heh

He spent the whole summer playing by himself, loudly in an attempt to impress us, in front of his house.

He's in college and works at a grocery store. I see him every now and then at the store, he's awkward but is a good guy now.

My favorite Nicholas story: one year we saw him maybe a couple times outside during the winter, didn't see him during the spring. Then one day in July we saw him outside his house shooting hoops with flowing, sparkling blonde hair - Dirk Nowitzki style. You have to understand, the Nicholas we had known for the last few years always looked the same: patchy, uneven buzz cut, a childish t-shirt, wack sneakers, and an eternal facial look of mass confusion. Now we watched from afar as he hit jumper after jumper, practiced post moves, took free throws, etc while wearing a nice Reggie Miller jersey and decent sneakers. After some debate we decided to invite him to play with us, and everyone wanted him on their team. I could tell he was more confident, poised, his voice was less annoying, he wasn't constantly saying "HEY YOU GUYS," etc...

The game started, and after a minute he got the ball for the first time. He took a dribble (!), stopped, took a shot...and it missed the rim by a foot.
:neogaf

He proceeded to miss every shot he took, but passed the ball, didn't spit on anyone, and was cool about everything. And that's how he became one of the fellas.

That's a cool story.

We had a kid on our block who called himself Mikey J (real name Nate) and was probably top 5 worst pick up ballplayer in the world. He had all the right equipment but managed to make it look bad. A normal day in the hood was him going about 2-43 from the field while fouling the fuck out of people and dribbling off his shoes.

We eventually moved to a different park.

Right before we moved we went down and were playing and there was Mikey J...we said sup Mikey J and he replied "man I'm nate now" and stood up. He was now like 6'7 and about 220 pounds. He whooped our ever loving asses for 3 hours and ended up playing some college level ball before he knocked up some broad. Last I heard he works at ford now.

Ha ha funny how we meet our friends.

We had a party in college one night and a freshman showed up. I told him "come back with 5 girls and I'll let you in" and then he brought back 10 (he told them there was free beer for girls which was total bullshit)

Guy is now my best friend and was the best man at my wedding.

I'm pretty awful myself, but I took him to school.

Breh half my football team in college shot like Shawn Marion with worse results (tom brady =  :neogaf ). Different strokes for different folks.

some fairly gay prose here, PD. Subtle, like a few stalks of saffron in a curry.

My bball crew consisted of my brothers, a black guy, an Arab guy, a mixed guy, an Indian guy, and a couple Asian guys. We had never seen a white kid playing ball competently, despite the subdivision being predominantly white; the white kids were mainly female, and the boys didn't really play sports. So seeing him out there hitting jumpers, his hair spun like gold, the breeze making the locks take wing...it's hard to explain it without sounding gay or like a worshiper of whiteness....but we were all impressed.

I was older than everyone except one of the Asian guys who was my age, and none of the older kids in the neighborhood played bball - at least not in our area of the subdivision. I created the bball crew because I had to watch my brothers outside, and when I was doing solo shit they wanted to follow me around...so making a team that could play all day was perfect.

I was better and bigger than everyone so I kind of just passed the ball around, took a few shots here or there, no show boating.

:what

I was good. Coasted through JR since I was bigger than everyone, but in HS/AAU I realized I needed to get better at my game since everyone was now my size. Worked on my handle and jump shot all summer, worked on driving to the lane. My post footwork was always good due to coaching, but I added some nice post moves.

Favorite bball moment was my granddad attending one of my AAU games. He had never seen a basketball game live and I scored 10 points.
 :rejoice

I was never great, and I had that big man issue of being too passive...but I held my own, average double digits during an AAU tournament, etc. Ultimately I wound up quitting AAU because I really didn't fit with the team, personality wise.

At first I thought it would be :what but that's moreso for breaches of common sense and forgivable but offensive fuckery - like getting your eye brows threaded or purchasing a Captain Toad game. Wack shit no doubt, but nothing that might end a friendship or work relationship.

I'll go with an initial of surprise, followed by

The conclusion being a neutral state. After all, in the face of such subversive ignorance what choice does a man have but to put on a straight face while mentally eliminating any strands of association/acquaintance with that fuckboy?

Man, sometimes I just hate business. We have to fight tooth and nail for every project we have and we have some of the best in the industry in our ranks. And to get every project we have to essentially go in fighting like Brad Pitt in Fight Club. But then I turn around and see clients with other consulting firms that have much much bigger projects and these firms, well I wouldn't trust those idiots to run a lemonade stand, let alone a multi-million dollar divestiture plan project. Spent a whole meeting with these idiots thinking "These must just be the grunts." After the meeting I looked at their cards and saw that they were actually the partners :goty

Honestly, I was like "K, so your current POS system goes away in March right?"
"Right"
"So what POS system will you be using?"
"Don't know yet. TBD."
"TBD? You're going to have to touch every register you own."
"Yes"
"You have 300 stores."
"Yes."
"And you have essentially 2 months to update every register across 300 stores and if you get it wrong your registers shut down and you don't sell and you're telling me that you don't even know what system you're going to use?"
"Yes"
 :mindblown

How do these people get this job when we have to essentially rip our competitor's heads off to even get in the door? It is infuriating.

Also I met one of our new sales guys. He's a nice bloke, I think we'll get along perfectly. He gets it. But, he looks like an older overweight Paul Atreides.

Spend 3 hours running a sales meeting trying not say "The spice must flow Paul." or "Shai Hulud"brehs.

So I got put onto another project (I think this is the 4th one I'm working right now).

And on my first day the following happened:

- Client PM was yelling at my boss about how if he didn't get something by EOD that the schedule would have to be pushed
- Found out that while we're in day 3 or 4 of testing (which is the client's responsibility) there's no testing plan or schedule
- An employee of mine on the team is so sick of the project he's threatening to quit.

7am tomorrow I have a meeting and have set out the following:

- Tell the client PM that until he has a testing plan and schedule to stop threatening me with schedule pushes
- Explain to him that right now his set of work is more at risk of pushing the schedule than anything else
- Tell my employee that he's welcome to quit and try and find a job with his aging tech skills. Or he could just put on his big girl panties and deal for a few weeks and I'll get him on another project after this phase is done

Honestly, I get that being a consultant is a tough, tough life. But the nice thing is if you have a project you don't like, you just grit your teeth and wait because a few weeks later you'll be done and you wont have to deal with those people ever again.

Been there.

Try this one:

Hospital "So we need to pull and terminate 2500 Cat6 cables"

Me "Okay here is the design have you bid the project out yet?"

Hospital "No"

Me "When do you want it done?"

Hospital "By end of january, people are scheduled to move in February 1st"

Me "Uh can't be done"

Hospital "Why?"

Me "Nobody can pull in 2500 cables during the holiday season"

Hospital "fuck"
YMMV

So basically blondes do it have it better

Someone stole an employee's paycheck out of the mail and cashed it with a stamp from a small church in LA and now I have to get it fixed :-\

So, I've gotta ask, why do you still mail actual paychecks? What's wrong with direct bank transfers?

How can a bank cash a check with a stamp and no ID? This close to xmas too? I'd get a hold of that church too.

Because my bank is shit and the charge for anything beyond the basics is more than it's worth.

I'm doubting it was cashed at a "bank"
