Im in isolation as of yesterday, seems I have an infection of the liver. I've never been sicker in all my life. The abdominal pain is one thing, but add vomiting and large amounts of nauseating drugs and its a nightmare. I'm part of the 3% of folks that go through this after their operation. I just want to be healthy and go home.

Not really. they got me on large amounts of cipro, which makes me very alert, hence why I'm up. I've been getting that and another drug in my iv which makes me want to throw up constantly. My body rests when it can but it's not resting long enough.

12, it's exhausting, excruciatingly painful, eye opening, a deluge of negative stuff, I don't know any more adjectives outside of being scared shirtless at all of this. They don't really even know if it's liver failure or something else. The doctors have said very little to me and what little I get from my nurses isn't the whole picture.

I appreciate the thought Keith, it means a lot coming from you in your current situation. I don't know where this train is taking me, but I'm asking for the journey now. I plan to ask the doctors what their prognoses is and dive deep into what my roadmap to recovery looks like. I need to know that there is something that will get better here in the short term.

I think I've reached the end of my Taco Bell relationship guys. The local taco places around here are just too good, and I've realized Taco Bell just doesn't compete. I'll still get Taco Bell as a last ditch fast food (say when I don't feel like cooking or ordering food) every now and then...but the days of me having a long term relationship with cheesy bean and rice burritos, chalupas, etc are over

My favorite taco place has amazing salsa. I'm going to head to the grocery store and see if I can find anything that tastes like it. I think it's like a minced salsa with red peppers but I'm not sure; the other is definitely a salsa verde. Really makes traditional Tostitos salsa taste like trash.

Taco Bell has been on a long decline anyway. They really fucked up when they got rid of the original Grilled Stuft Burrito maybe 3-4 years ago. I went to a Taco Bell recently and they had a chicken quesadilla for $3.59. That is almost double the price almost instantly for some reason (it used to be $1.99 just a year or two ago) but no additional chicken or sauce or cheese either. In 2008 I could get an XL Baja Blast, a chicken quesadilla, a beef grilled stuft burrito, and a spicy chicken burrito for $7.77. Getting fat never tasted so good. Now, all that is left is an overpriced quesadilla, a shittier version of the GSB, and no spicy chicken burrito. Their breakfast sucks and when I ate one of their rolled chicken tacos, it was that moment when I realized that the Taco Bell I knew and loved was dead.

Oh well, it had a nice run.

Those rolled chicken tacos are horrible. My mom used to buy the frozen rolled tacos for us back when I was a kid, and I always felt they were ok but nothing special. Taco Bell's managed to be worse than that...

Got sick last week, 102.5º fever Wed. night, went to doctor on Thursday morning: no influenza

Stayed on prescription, but got more sick, with a cough getting progressively worse over the weekend, got maybe 2~3 hours sleep each night.

Monday morning here, I just got back from the doctor’s office again. X-rays show no pneumonia, but I have acute bronchitis.

Thanks! I'm just happy it's not pneumonia. I'm feeling better compared to last night, but that's not saying much. Managed a five hour nap today, which was contiguous and wonderful. Exhausted though.

My neighbor freaked out in the middle of the night and he caused a huge event. I haven't been able to stop having pain since. The nurse here ran and didn't take my safety into account, so I had to deal with him till the security came. I'm just shaking my head at the bone head decisions made tonight.

Liver functions went from high 1000's to mid 400's yesterday. Had my lab taken a short while ago and am hoping it's even lower today.

So I've been going though a really rough time lately, well all last year actually and there doesn't seem like its going to change anytime soon and I think I've decided I don't want to do a Ph.D. I'm pretty sure I'm just not good enough to end up doing the work I'd like to do. Now I have to figure out what I want to do with my life and how to get there. Fuck.

Sounds like what I had back in November man. Came out of nowhere and you should expect at least 4 days of fucking misery. I couldn't sleep, yet I couldn't really get out of bed either for the peak of it. Days were better than nights too. For some reason it would really come on strong between 3 and 7 am.

Well its not just that. Got a paper rejected today that was submitted 6 months ago (and rejected for decent reasons). I'm certainly not proud of anything I've accomplished during my masters and I'm not sure the work I'm doing is going to change. I don't want to be prof. any more and I don't think I'll accomplish anything that would let me do industrial research, so a Ph.D. doesn't help career-wise. I'm also just really sick of the stress and being unhappy.
