Completely exhausted on Monday, having awakened before 6AM (usually 7:30) to see my visiting daughter off at the shinkansen station. That required nearly an hour of train in the opposite direction of my work, but I did it. Then had that hour added to my commute, but showed up at work early, stayed late, met a delivery deadline, went "home" to my lonely room, didn't drink a damned thing, and went to bed early.

And I flossed.

Started off the week with my worst day-at-work in my half-year with this employer. Found new mental peace halfway through the week. Ended my Friday with my boss telling me my week wrap-up meeting was "30 minutes of pure happiness. Everything good. Content good, energy good, message good. Everything."

It really seems like it's the perfect time to give something like this a try.

Review is in:

http://clutchmov.com/2018/11/16/a-christmas-story-the-musical/

Also we are going to extend the show.  Before our first show we were 90% sold out so we will likely extend it by one or two shows.

I'll stop posting about it now unless there is a funny story.

They either wanted somebody cheaper than you or someone who has a bachelors degree in the general field but is getting desperate for a first job. Student loans payments begin 6 months after you graduate so those kids will take the first job that they get offered.

If you aren't at a company with performance metrics, there's really nothing HR can be judged on besides how many years/degrees a new hire has and how long that person stays in the job before moving on or getting fired. Personally, I've seen few examples where doing certain work a lot correlates with being good/smart at it. Shit is fucked.

higher degrees have that kind of catch 22 attached to them too when entering the dangerous private sector, where you can be both overqualified and underqualified for the position at the same time

the fun part is if they tell you you're overqualified thinking they're being nice and you're like "that's okay, i'm just interested in the position" and then they have to mumble something something experience sorry, but you got 'em first!

Voted in our local election.

The party I voted for has the best ideas. Parking during the tourist season is a big problem, for example:
- Parking Enforcement are the "guests" of our community and should behave themselves in such a manner and not fine local residents but give them a friendly warning first
- When the town is 'full' on hot summer days our town should be closed for all traffic and traffic should be rerouted to parking places outside of town
- All redundant regulations will be cut
- Taxes will be lowered

etc.

Our town was recently merged with 2 other towns (mostly glorified farmland) to try and curb our independence and everyone here hates that.
The national vote for local elections was months ago, they postponed our vote because of this 'merger' but the national parties are just pissed they lost control over this area.

Results are rolling in (16 out of 24 voting places counted):

Lijst Salman 20% (The awsum "our town first" party I voted for)  :hyper

CDA 18% (The Christians, but this would've been my second choice as they had some good policy plans)
VVD 16% (The regular rightwing "fiscal" conservatives)
PUUR 16% (some hippy shit, didn't even have a real set of policies just 10 'values', like "We want more compassion!")
NZLokaal 13% (some dumb local farmers of the other town we merged with)
GroenLinks 8% (the green marxists)
D66 5% (the libdem 'bothsideism' losers)
PvdA 4% (the left labour party roflol)

The left labour party recently marged with the socialists here because they did so badly. And now the left is almost completely wiped out with the centrists and green taking the table scraps.  :doge

UPDATE

NOOOO this is the midterms all over again:

NZLokaal 3460 votes/19%
VVD 3181 votes/17%
CDA 3111 votes/17%
PUUR 3080 votes/16%
Lijst Salman 2852 votes/15%
GroenLinks 1356 votes/7%
D66 954 votes/5%
PvdA 696 votes/4%

Fuck

The local farmers will rule us with the national parties.  :-\

This is the worst. And exactly why they merged our towns.  :doge

Not quite. The farmers from the start wrote policies that would only affect their areas. In fact, our town isn't even mentioned in their program.
That's when our local parties decided they needed to hold together too but unlike the farmers we aren't a close-knit community and do not all vote for the same party.
We still have some folks who support the national parties (because they directly work or benefit from those parties).

Our Prime minister and two secretaries even came to visit for two campaign stops and they didn't for the other 37 local elections being held today.
This is a popular spot, a NATO summit was held here in 2007 and among other things the ESA(European Space Agency) HQ is located here.
Corporations often organize their congresses and conferences here as well.

In 2017 we were the "Official European City of Sport" in 2018 the "Official European City of Space".
National Geographic ranked us among the top 10 beach communities in the world.

The farmers just want to hold on to their free parking and will rob the treasury to fill the gaps in their own budget to renew all their roads.
They have no ambition whatsoever. Hopefully the national parties will keep them in check. After all, it was their dumb idea to merge our towns.

We have no PVV here.
We had a local branch and then we chased those lunatics out of our town years ago.
  :patel

This place used to be a Fortuyn stronghold. The leader of the party I voted for used to be a junior member of Fortuyns' party and a local real estate developer who has his own sunday TV show funded a statue to honor Fortuyn.

Anywhow, the local crisis is somewhat averted. I ran into an old buddy from high school during black friday shoppiing who apparently won a seat in this election.
He's from a different party than I voted for but he liked some of the ideas that I talked to him about. :)

If the opportunity presents itself I'll offer free advice (I did this after SESTA/FOSTA) but in my experience taxpayers who straight up conceal their primary source of income from the relevant authorities make for awful clients. You think they ain't going to stiff you too? :teehee

I'm also kind of skeptical of that story in general tbh. People in the industry are vulnerable to disinformation.
