I despise MOBAs and by extension tower defense games - this game is not a moba, end of story. TF2 would be the best comparison.

6v6 objective based game with cutesy hero characters.

I rage hard sometimes when playing Reinhardt. I end up getting pissed at my team the whole time for not paying a lick of attention, not healing me at all, and barely using my shield, which gets decimated in a second by the other team. Then suddenly we win, I get upvotes for blocking a million damage and it's like "oh...um...well, you guys are still assholes"

Guess sometimes he does a good job even if it's just to die 20 times and distract the other team.

What's there to explain?

You have 6v6

You can pick from 20 or so unique heroes with different movesets and abilities. Lots of these abilities work in synergy with other heroes. You will need to learn at least 1 main and 2 backups depending on the map, the mode, and who picks what. You can change heroes mid-match to counter the other team or when the situation calls for it.

There is an objective on each map. Escort the truck. Capture the points. King of the Hill.

There are cosmetic unlocks. You get a box of random goodies every time you rank up.

It's NOT a moba. There are no "jungles" there are no "creeps" there are no "lanes" there are no "towers" you don't buy "upgrades" you don't "level up"

Competitive season beta on PC is pretty great, aside from a few quirks (one is a sudden death round tie breaker, which they're getting rid of. It favors attack heavily.) People play a lot harder and communicate over mic more, so the matches are that much more intense. At the very least, it puts quick play into perspective as the unranked mode.

Finally starting to cool down on this, could use a few days break actually

~90 hours in like 3 weeks. been awhile since that happened

edit: thoughts-- amazing game, but I can see why it's $40, just going by volume of content. The characters are fine, needs a bunch more maps, but what's there is immensely fun and surprisingly balanced (though you wouldn't know it from the people bitching about turrets+bastion.) Being a Blizzard game, it'll gradually grow into a massive game over the next few years.

edit 2: one thing I don't like is how many times I've been in an encounter, thought I did a thing (like a tightly timed Tracer rewind), got killed instead, then on the kill cam, the enemy was actually like 2 seconds ahead of me? I don't understand how that works--is that the tick rate thing people bitch about? cause my ping is always like 13-16ms.

it's been obvious from the very beginning the problem was that the turret does a lock-on far too fast

the damage was fine

how fucking obvious is it that the 'nerf' should have been a slowdown in the lock-on, and basically make it behave like a sentry in TF2

the damage was never that big to begin with, now it gets nerfed

The problem is absolutely damage on the console version. He is not an issue on the PC. But on console he does so much damage so quickly because you can't snap target him like with a mouse.

Dva is a boss, you use her to get to snipers and other fuckers. Widowmakers, Hanzos etc. TOAST.

Fly up to their hiding spot and get in their face.

She was the first character that clicked for me. Once I realized that here guns are just little pew-pew shotguns and you need to close the distance and pay attention to the spread.

Getting her ult off - getting enough kills to get your mech back almost instantly - kill a bit more - charge your alt; if you can get into that grove and go through 3 or 5 cycles of that it feels BOSS

don't forget you can launch her mech if you dash+ult. it can bounce off shit too (think Numbani control point A) which can "cook" it

her shield eats everything, can be useful on turrets

It seems really good. Has longer range than her mech guns, doesn't seem to have dropoff damage, and a few headshots will take out any non-Tank. I was staying out of the mech for a bit even if I had ult when we were ahead just because it was easier to take potshots with the pistol.

A guy was bitching at me the whole match for picking tracer on koth. I was all silvers the whole time and started stealing his golds so he dropped. Thankfully got with a good group after.

Choice quote was "you should be gold on dmg ur tracer" he said as he played 76. She has submachine pea shooters with prob the worst drop off and spread in the game! Her ult does 400 if you're right on it.

the worst time I have with this game, aside from losing every match, is having a run of total stomps and getting totally stomped alternating. it's like barely playing.

In that last game there was the most stereotypical "clueless Overwatch KDA bro" on my team. Picked Genji both times and was terrible, then switched to Widowmaker, then when I asked in all chat if I could downvote him instead of upvoting him during the match end voting screen he flipped out and asked if he could bend my mother over and fuck her.
