Wow, street fighter has been around forever and it's still on V? If they counted each addition it would be more like street fighter 91

Besides the different versions of the numbered games, they count Alpha, EX, and the like as different series. So it's waaaaaaay more than V.

I hope we start seeing some new characters soon and I really hope there's a decent number of them this time. I don't want "Street Fighter II plus four new characters" again like how SF4 started out. I suspect that if their claim that this game will have no new versions is true, they'll keep releasing DLC characters instead. Which is fine. I mean, it ultimately would end up costing the same as or more than a new version, but would shut up the whiners.

That water/plasma effect just looks funky in context to the rest of the game. Maybe it's better in motion, just looks... off.

Characters have their own individual sub-systems now with V-Skills. Neat. (They also have ArcSys to thank for this since Guilty Gear has this) Ryu gets parries with this skill.

We got Nash back. Don't need another character like that.

If the rumors are true about the game once again having 16 characters (just like how SF4 started out-- the arcade version had the original 12, plus the four new ones), I hope they go for a more varied roster of returning characters. But I expect to see more characters get released as DLC.

Also really, really hope the returning roster isn't SF2 (with Nash replacing Guile) again. Take from other games. Bring back characters who weren't in SF4. We got Ryu. We got Chun. We got Bison. Throw in a grappler like 'Gief (would prefer Hugo again) and maybe put Cammy in there and that's enough from the SF2 era. If they want to bring back new characters added to SF4 though, that's cool with me. Abel, Juri, Poison, etc.? Sure. Gimme R. Mika back too-- in fact, give her a 360 and put a sole female in that slot this time around.

I bet Alex is going to return, too. He was in Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom, but that died as soon as MvC3 came out.

If Cammy returns, it would be nice if she has Decapre's charge moves for teleporting while also having her usual non charge Cammy specials. Would make sense at this point. Less character bloat, more versatile characters in general.

Hope Blanka makes it into the game though.

For some charge characters, it comes down to not worrying about their special moves or gimmicks and trying to utilize all their normal attacks. Guile for example in SF4 has an insane neutral game, dude's normals have long distance and high attack power. Blanka's ball specials are good for punishes and mixups, but they're terrible when it comes to attacking someone outright.

When it comes to charging attacks, eventually you'll be able to know if you charged long enough without looking at a clock.

Yeah as the animation of the move (say, a Sonic Boom) is happening, you should already be charging again. That way you can bust out another Boom or FK right away as needed. But yea, most charge based characters have fantastic normals and command normals (forward+HP as an example) and you'll want to focus on learning those most of all.

Also I dunno if learning charge characters will matter. They seem to be making everyone a mostly motion character :'(

That's the main reason why I hope SF4 stays popular/relevant, how many characters are in the game. I also get the feeling that there will be 3 charge characters out of the entire SF5 cast at release.

It'd be nice if new charge characters are introduced.

I know Nash has a motion for his Boom now. Chun's fireball is back to motion again too. I believe Bison is still charge, but he looks a lot different than he has before.

As for Sakura, storyline wise she should have graduated by now. 5 takes place after 3.

They seem to be going by the list that was posted from the 'insider' (Ken Bogard I think it was?) who posted a list of all the characters he claims will be in the game. He was right on the new mechanic being called "V-Trigger" before Capcom said anything.

Eh? Where you get that?

Nash is no longer a charge character. Bison is. Chun still has charge moves and I am certain there will be more characters than that with charge attacks. If that rumored list is correct, Guile will be in.

Nacho's a bit misinformed here. SFV takes place before SF3. Storyline doesn't matter in these games anyway, however- Sakura shouldn't be a schoolgirl in SF4. They're ignoring character ages now.

Bison looks different because he is supposed to be continuously-cloning himself. The clone body has gotten older or whatever nonsense.

Oh damn I thought I'd read it was after. I don't usually pay much attention to story stuff though.

I can't wait to get my hands on the game next week at EVO. Gonna get as many games in as Nash and Cammy in as I can. Good to know Chun is still charge. I'll give her a shot but I've never been much of a Chun player.
