Are you still playing SF4?  I'd drop it if so and see if that helps with Cammy.  I didn't use her as much in later versions of SF4 so it has been easy for me to transition.  Chun feels different enough that I don't feel like all my SF4 usage is hindering my play style.

I was playing SF4 until Friday last week so it's still pretty fresh for me. Other than some switching around to Juri and Poison, it was pretty much straight Cammy for 8 years or whatever. That's another reason I'm okay with trying someone else :lol

Gonna be going to a friend's house for some local matches with a bunch of folks tonight. I'll use this opportunity to run through a lot of the cast in actual matches and the ones I like I'll continue to mess with in training room.

Transitioning to stick is SO HARD

While this probably won't help, I found that punches being on the bottom row and kicks being on the top row is more comfortable than punches on top and kicks on bottom. Most stick users have punches at top.

Main advantage the pad has is the stick itself or dpad. You can be so much quicker with a lot less effort on pad. I'd say the main advantage of an arcade stick are the buttons, especially for something like Street Fighter that has six attacks.

Yep, adjusting to the stick is the hardest part. Just gotta use the Daigo method for practice. Just keep doing the same moves until you can get them 30 times in a row on each side. I still do that with a lot of moves and short combos to ram the execution into my head.

i'm trying to build good habits and not bad ones. so i'm trying to not ride the gate. any other bad habits i should kill at the outset?

in training room, I not only throw 20-30 of the same move. I'm also going to the input record and checking the execution of each and every one. shit is all over the place and it's hard getting clean inputs due to how sensitive the stick is.

i don't know if the input shortcuts are in for SFV but avoid using those if you can. they are a big hinderance in general from my experience. except for the 360 shortcut, i can't help but use that :-X

I think most TE/TE+/TE2 or MadCatz sticks have that slider somewhere on the stick itself, usually at the top left of the stick. Usually there are three options, LS, DP, and RS. Always have it set on DP if you have that slider on your stick, LS makes inputs stick.

I feel like transitioning to stick is :( right now because the game just came out, and I'll be concentrating on learning stick while everyone else concentrates on learning the game. If I concentrate on learning the stick, I'll be like a month behind when I finally get used to it. :(

Now is the best time tbh. It's a good way to break all kinds of old habits while also learning new stuff from SFV. IMO it's more frustrating to transition mid-game because you'll just get frustrated by not being able to perform stuff you had down 100% on pad and get down on yourself even more.

At least that's how it was for me when I transitioned to stick for SSF4

Does it? I've never noticed sticking inputs on any stick. Then again, I haven't deeply used the two I have. (:fbm) because I can't get used to the input commands for it versus D-pad.

Lemme know how it is. If you can even mod it into a Saturn shell, that'd be amazing.

one thing I really gained from SFIV is that, despite starting all over, i now know how to learn how to play fighting games and it's really true when they say the skills you gain from one fighter can be applied to any other fighting game. it's a skill, really, and the hundreds of hours playing fighters taught me more than anything, how to play smart to improve the most while utilizing smart time management and how to think on my feet and adapt.

can't wait to finish story mode so i can not ever tough single player mode in this game in bulk until June when the other story mode drops. also, survival mod sucks. fact.

360 sticks are Xinput aren't they? Xinput is supported out of box. The PS3/4 sticks are DirectInput which isn't (yet) supported.

The loading on ps4 is pretty nuts.  Loading loading everywhere.  I have fight invites on and playing survival mode and the load into an online fight and back to survival or story is like a minute+ both ways just to get one online match.  Also online is sort of laggy from the matches I played.

Yeah I'm thinking about picking up a stick.  I have a badass Hori stick for ps2 when I was really into fighters, but never picked up a stick on PS3.  Now I have like 20 fighters on ps3, around 3 or 4 on PS4 and a half-dozen on PC.

Any chance there's a high quality $200ish stick that works on PS3/PS4/PC?  If not I'll settle for a PS3/PS4 working one.

SFV is growing on me despite the beta-nature of it.  I like some of the changes the classics got.  Like as primarily a Zangief player his new V-trigger stuff is fun to play with.

Any PS4 stick still will work on PC for every single fighting game...EXCEPT Street Figher V

The Hori RAP4 (Either Kai or Hayabusa) are both quality sticks for $150. They don't use Sanwa parts, which are the standard for Japanese arcades but I think the Hori parts in there are top notch. The Mad Catz TES+ or TE2 are also great sticks for like $200-230ish, are much easier to mod, and use Sanwa parts.

Buuuut most places are sold out of sticks since SFV came out so you're in for a wait pretty much anywhere you order.

Outside of the stick size (pause), I can recommend the Hori RAP4. Solid (and huge) stick that only the joystick feels too small to properly grip the balltop for me.

The HRAP 4 will fit in your lap with a of an overhang depending the size of your thighs. (pause) Not all Chun-Li sized, but adequate.

It's the stick size under the ball-top that is a problem for me. I think I need to raise the sticks height by like a half-inch or an inch to rest my hand comfortably under it. It's hard to describe but I feel like my pinky and ring aren't comfortable while the middle and pointer/thumb grip the ball top.
