Yeah, still being worked on. Monthly update is probably happening tomorrow. I think the eta for the Switch patch is/was end of November, Zangetsu ought to be happening around then too. :doge

I agree the boss design is pretty spotty. The hit detection going both ways can feel jank AF (looking at you, Bloodless) - and it's likely all due to a bloated massive 3d engine managing stuff that was done better in the 90s with a fraction of the computational overhead. I get that assembling all the assets and stuff was probably easier using Unreal, but yeah. It's still a good game but the technical issues put such a dampener on it.

This is kind of true, but also largely false. It's down to having a programmer who knows what they're doing. Making a 2D game can be down to how the engine is engaged in making it happen, and if it's not working, that's down to code. There is definitely enough computing power to deal with hit detection.

The Nintendo Switch Improvement update is live! We know it took a while to get this update to you and we are very appreciative of your patience.

There are four areas of improvement in version 1.03: Input Lag, Visual Quality, Crashes and Load Times.

First off, input lag has been eliminated throughout the game. You will find the controls more responsive, making the game easier to navigate and enemies easier to fight. There are still a few areas that need optimizing that will be included in update 1.04.

Visual quality has been improved so things look more clear and have more detail.

Overall stability has been improved throughout the game. We have addressed several specific situations that have been causing crashes, most notably when reading books from a bookcase.

Loading times have been reduced significantly, by up to 70% but there are still areas we'd like to improve. We will keep working to improve this on a room-by-room basis.

Even more improvements are coming in update 1.04, so keep an eye on the news for that announcement!

We're all still waiting on Zangetsu. Xbox is still waiting on the IGA's Backpack DLC. Japanese backers are still waiting on their copies of the game. :doge Zangy is probably not too far off since Switch is mostly fixed now I think they're mainly just squashing bugs before sending him out.

Gamestop is dumping this, for both PS4 and Switch, for $17 new.  Physical only- digital is still $39.99.

Might be today only.

Apparently it's way better but still has some problems. There's another patch for a few straggling issues that were a little more difficult to deal with incoming.

There's a room near the bottom right savepoint in the Den of Behemoths with a dragon sitting there, equipped 2 of the accessories that give you extra EXP and go in, beat the shit out of the dragon, and repeated for an hour or two.

Anyways yeah I beat this with 100% map completion a few weeks ago, yay me.

Beat this yesterday on the Switch. Level 43, 99.4% map completion, and I beat all the secret bosses except the 8-Bit Dungeon boss and O.D. I'm satisfied for now. Got too many other games to play.

Also, I'm really happy that Iga can continue to make these games without Konami.

Installed the game and the new patch, no Zangetsu. Apparently it’s glitched that a lot of people have to beat the final boss again to trigger Zengetsu unlock.

Not sure I want to be assed to beat the final boss again considering I haven’t touched this is a year and my skills for it are gone.

Beat the final boss again and unlocked him, but don't really get the point of his mode. His moveset is odd (his main useful standard attack slash is on R2) he's overpowered for like 1/2 the sections and one hit kills everything and then underpowered for the endgame sections. Also starting with all the upgrades and with all the paths unlocked in the castle, not sure where you're even supposed to be going? Just a straight gun to where you fought the true final boss? Seems like it'd be a 1-2 hour run at most.

Do you ever get another jump power up beyond double jump? I found some chests in the lag fest tower area that apparently I can get if I bounce off the lanterns, but given my shitty reflexes and the bad framerate/input lag in this section I'm struggling to get them.

Total sales for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has surpassed one million units, publisher 505 Games and developer ArtPlay announced.

A development roadmap highlighting the game’s lineup of free updates was also shared, which will start with the release of “Boss Revenge Mode” and “Chroma Wheel” for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC versions on June 23, and for the Switch version in July.

Here is the full roadmap:

June 23 (July for Switch)

Boss Revenge Mode – Players can thank the Kickstarter community for this new free gameplay mode in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night—a direct result of community support in helping the game surpass its final $5.5 million stretch funding goal. In this mode, accessible by entering the transition room in-game, players will face off against four in-game bosses fast and furiously to get the best clear time.

Chroma Wheel – The salon is back in business with more options than ever in color palette for character customization, including hair, clothing, and skin. Players can return to Todd the Barber, Bloodstained’s demonic scissor-wielding hair stylist, and switch up their look with a true color selector and eliminating pre-set options previously available.

Q3 2020

Chaos Mode and VS. Mode
Special Crossover Content and Classic Mode

Q4 2020

Special Crossover Content and ? ? ? ? Playable Character

New characters in this, so they already planning for other "mainline" games too, surely.  :nothot

tbf, I wish they'd just drop DLC for RotN and get their all their resources straight to more new games. I don't need the main game whored out, I won't touch any of the extra stuff, probably even if I was planning a replay.

Liking the new characters.  Dominique has better reach, jumps higher, and can bounce off enemies/lanterns with her spear, McDuck/Shovel Knight style.  Robert uses a gun and shoots full screen.  He can crawl and also wall cling- you can use the latter to wall jump in some spaces.  Zangetsu is...there.  Yup, it's Zangetsu.

Hachi (doggo in a mech) can hover, ground pound, and can also walk on ice without slipping.  Good new crew.  I know the older characters are there too- keep finding spaces that I think only Miriam can access.  Also found a room with a sword, but you can't do anything.

Hachi can also walk on (break) spikes- he made the level that follows once you get him a cakewalk.  I just punched the boss to death without getting hit, lol.

Got the sword after beating the level- now Zantetsu can do more and seems good.

Completed the first episode last night (eight stages)- the final boss wasn't too bad, but I lost Dominique (jumped off a ledge by mistake, lol) and it was tough without her reach.

The ending I got then focused on Dominique leaving the group and episode two unlocked- wondering if it's a coincidence or if you get endings based on who is alive in your party when you clear that stage. Might replay that final episode one level again to check.

For whatever reason, chapter two isn't selectable in your first save profile and you have to make a new one.  I started it and it was the first stage again, but with a harder version of the boss fight.

How to unlock other episodes.  Has some spoilers I guess...?  Worth looking at so you can avoid having to replay the second episode twice.
