I work at a hospital due to one of my supervisors working at a hospital, and I can act as a second opinion that his penis is all fucked up.

Speaking of maladies, I found out my 10 year old is a type 1 diabetic. feelsbadman.

I'll look on the bright side and say that it will help us in the long run, as it will bring us all closer together and make us all eat healthier/smarter. But right now, it's pretty hard getting a routine down.

Super rough to hear that toxic.

Look into diabetes camps for kids. All my type 1 friends swear by them and have stayed involved throughout the years

That's awful, TA, sorry. I have a good scared straight diabetes story about a grandparent if you ever need to be a bad cop dad.

Also good look with the Universal Technical Institute application, Glen.

I've had type 1 diabetes since I was six years old (23 years old now).

Hardest part about the disease is the routine itself. Testing blood sugar often, for your or your kid's curiosity will help a lot with finding the right groove for eating and dosing. For me, I take a baseline insulin every 12 hours, and then take a different insulin depending on how many carbs a meal or snack has. While the diabetic specialist gives me the baseline numbers for dosing, the info from blood testing helps them and me the most in the long run.

The most basic advice I can provide besides testing a lot:

Soda and juice are good for treating low blood sugar quickly. Fast acting carbs and sugar. Overdoing it though can cause a low to spike up to a high. As a kid I felt low blood sugar really easily, constant lows throughout the week aren't good and can cause those sensations to go away.

Don't know if kids get flu shots regularly, but for diabetic adults its highly recommended to get flu shots every year. If your kid can't hold down food or fluids, you'll need to go to the ER or urgent care for an IV, due to not being able to control blood sugar with food.

Depending on the insulin and dosing, cutting down on high carb or high sugar snacks is highly recommended. While blood sugar can be treated with insulin, its never instantaneous and having a consistent schedule with meals makes dosing a lot easier.

Test before bedtime, every time. Unless its baseline insulin, be very cautious with dosing before bedtime. Waking up with high blood sugar is a lot more preferred than the alternative.

My dad's type 1 as well, toxic. The technology's really come a long way in the last decade to make diabetes manageable with very little input.

Keep your head up.

Sorry to hear that Toxic. As others have said it's a lot more manageable now than it used to be. And a dietary shift for the family will definitely benefit everyone.

When it comes to tech, you have the typical blood testing meter, and then vials/syringes/insulin pens.

The other piece of tech is a insulin pump, where all of that is combined into one unit.

Main difference is the analog tech (vials and syringes) is less consistent, you only get insulin when you do injections yourself. Apparently the pump the works 24/7 and is adjusted by the user at times, like when eating.

I prefer the former method, needle and vial delivery rather than the pump.

Sorry to hear that TA. The school my wife teaches at tries to keep the kids with this in the same classes at each grade level. It helps make it a little more normal when they are around other kids going through the same thing.

Good luck to you and your family.

About 2 months ago the California State Board of Equalization called to let me know they had audited a special Beer/Wine Importer tax return I filed last year because something in their software messed up a few forms like mine (people who import both beer, wine and sparkling wine under a certain limit, their must be under 20 of us in the state) and I got like a 12 dollar refund.  They sent me the paltry check, whatever, but then on Monday I get a call that they because I had gotten audited (for their error) they were extending the audit to the last three years of my sales and use tax.  It's the most expensive 12 dollars I've ever seen.

Moved on January 2 to an even more communist neighboorhood (90 years of red mayors). Hot water this afternoon at last. A tad smaller and cheaper too. Industrial city but a lot of people told me it's nice and quiet. Have a polish store and just a jump away from Chinatown.

Bought some Vodka honey flavored to celebrate.

I think I've decided not to buy an Asus product again. They always look pretty and have great specs at a competitive price, and then they fall apart within a year. Android tablets had touchscreens fail and now this router I bought 10 months ago decided to kill itself.

Got any good recommendations for a router?

Accidentally just emailed of my friends a picture of my wife performing fellatio on me with our faces clearly visible.

Ironically, the email said "I am going to kill myself tomorrow" and I meant to attach a picture of Luke Wilson shaving from Royal Tennenbaums as part of a string of jokes. Now I might actually have to kill myself.

wanted to put music on ipod:

0) need to move album to itunes
1) Itunes is out of date so I need to update it
2) then I need to update itunes on the ipod
3) but first I need to transfer my purches from my ipod to my mac
4) which needs to be done because iCloud was trying to make me change my password a few months ago and I didn't want to so I turned it off

All in all it has taken an hour to get to the point where the ipod is finally updating itunes.  All I wanted was to transfer one fucking album to my ipod.  And its always like this because I hardly ever do it.

Mobile devices and not being able just to have a file system I can manage :piss2 :piss2 :piss2
