Ya I should just figure out how to put music on my android phone

but first I should figure out how to get data on it, its been like 10 months and I still havent done that.  It keeps on saying I can't log on to the providers network 

I'm honestly thinking os switching providers just so I can hand the phone to the service girl and say 'make it do things'.

Generally it's just a case of going on to the website and calling a number until you get customer support and they walk you through it. But I just have them do it at the store so I don't have to explain if something doesn't work.

I'm seriously blown away that you've gone nearly a year with a smartphone without connecting it to mobile data. I respect your apathy.

My Kindle Paperwhite kicked the bucket a couple days ago.  A couple months ago, the WiFi refused to work on it, no matter what I did.  A couple days ago, it stopped working at all.  I keep trying to fix it but nope.

I've had it for a couple years now, which is kind of disturbing but I used it all the time.  I love this thing so I put in an order to get a new one.

My job is meaningless and boring but I always viewed it as a stepping stone and I wanted to negotiate one last raise before applying around to labs that actually do research. I just passed my one year mark and planned to talk to my boss this weekend about scheduling a time to talk about this on Monday (the 11th) but he must have read my mind since he gave me a raise today that is maybe half of what I would think I can negotiate. Is it bad form to ask for more?

I really don't mind risking the job since it feels fair to get paid based on responsibilities you have rather than time at the company. And right now is the super slow half of the year so it's the best time for them to kick my ass out.

Either way, I want to leave soon. Anyone know a guide to making a unique/flashy resume template?

A lot of people leave money on the table by not negotiating for things at work whether it be salaries or raises.

Of course, you should have some reasons in mind as to why you deserve a bigger raise.  Also be prepared to hear "no" of course.  You wouldn't be risking the job by asking for a bigger raise unless your boss is a huge dick, which in that case you probably wouldn't get the recommendation anyway.

Edit: It also depends on where you work.  I have a set dollar amount for me when it comes to giving direct reports raises.  That means if I give someone a bigger raise, it comes at the expense of someone else or others.

She kicked cancer's ass 15 years ago (unrelated to current condition), so we know she's a tough old broad. But still.

Just got off the phone with her. Was expecting an hour but got 10 minutes. But I understand she might be tired, and my sister is there with her. She sounded great on the phone though, you'd never tell something is wrong with her. So that's positive. It all comes down to tomorrow though, she starts surgery at 7:30am.

I'm gonna be on edge all day tomorrow, I can already tell. And there's a huge company party that night but I don't even think I want to go now, even if I don't hear anything. Ugh, I hate being selfish.

Grandma made it through surgery. Apparently it was exploratory heart surgery. The two main issues are her heart and kidneys. "Thankfully" dialysis can help with her kidneys but they're deciding right now what to do with her heart. From what I've been told they may do open-heart surgery tomorrow or Saturday. I'm returning home Saturday morning so I hope I get to see her and talk with her.
