Houston is insane. My wife has been working at her hospital since Friday morning. An hour ago she messaged me that the 2nd floor is flooding now. I'm stuck at home watching the city underwater on the news and feeling anxious and worried as fuck. We have another huge band of rain hitting the city in a couple of hours.

I've been tipping my standard 20-30% in Montreal but apparently the standard here is more like 10-15% since their wages aren't deliberately undercut like in America. :/

So after about 4-5 days of taking Iron supplements I feel way more alive! Like I'm waking up 2 hours earlier than I normally do and only sleeping like 6 hours and I feel ALERT and have energy throughout the day. It's pretty rad. Like it pretty much cleared up me being on a downer and been feeling good. Even back to working out at night cause I have all this energy whereas I used to be too tired after work to exercise.

I'm reeeally struggling with severe neck pain, I got home from school yesterday and today in so much pain I felt like I'm gonna puke and with a horrible ache in my head, especially forehead. Yesterday two painkillers did the trick but today I've taken three and they haven't really helped at all and I puked a little right after drinking coffee and nearly vomited a couple times after all I did was take a few steps.

I have pains this bad pretty regularly and I really can't deal with it much longer. I guess I could go to the doctor but I'd only get prescribed some expensive painkillers or told to go to a physical therapist, and I can't really spend money on either. I think I'm gonna look into some upper back exercises and whatever but every single day in school is so straining on my neck I'm really doubtful any amount of exercise could help. If you shouldn't look down at your phone for several minutes a day since it's so straining on your neck then how fucked am I when everything I do in school (and at work after I've graduated) has to be done looking down 

I even had pains like these after babysitting my nephew for some hours since he's a baby and always on a lower level than me. I seriously cannot handle any amount of looking down. I wonder if I even have any muscles in my neck area

It's not a cure but complete preoccupation. You seem to have some healthy habits (martial arts) so I would maybe try to see how you could put more time an energy into that. Everything sucks when you're depressed. Answers sound cliche but I usually find that's exactly when I need to just pour into something else. Even better if it's physically demanding. Slow down turn w/e is into a sacred ritual.



Unrelated. But I def. pulled something or fucked something up in my midsection this week. Stuff, achey. Just gonna beg and hope it's gone by sat night 😭

See a psychiatrist, talk about it and probably get some form of SSRI. Also probably take a vitamin D supplement and maybe consider one of those special lamps. Maybe even look into a therapy/emotional support animal.

Aside from that? I find that keeping a routine helps, as well as having achievable goals both near term and short term. And finding people you can talk to about how you feel and what you're thinking who will listen and provide genuine care and empathy.

It's pretty tough to do things you know you should be doing when you're depressed. It just sucks life out of you, and it's so hard to get out of that hole.
But like bluemax (whose post is pretty good advice btw) said: Talk to someone. It doesn't have to be a professional, and it's a great first step.

Also, imo it's important to be open to wanting to actually get better. If you can elimite some negative thoughts and try to have a more positive attitude, it'll help a lot.

My triumph thread post jinxed my morning, because my daughter tripped in her own shoes outside and smashed her face on the ground so her teeth went through her lips. It hurt my heart so fucking bad, especially because stuff like that bleeds a lot (but it usually looks worse than it is) and also she freaked out when she saw the blood. She's fine now though.. it happened outside the medical clinic on our way to a checkup, so we got it looked at almost right away. Well, anyway her dad was there too walking in front of us and he immediately turned around and said "Omg what did you do?!" to me, putting the blame on me, and actually got mad at me. what the fuck. If I wasn't caught up grabbing her to rush inside I would have ripped his head off for being such a destructive pos.
