You can't call him out on his own forum is what he told me. I mean when I called out moderation I didn't even specifically name anyone and what I wrote was a lot more in depth and nuanced than what Gondo did but to EviLore it doesn't matter. He can not be questioned. He is not on equal footing with everyone else on the forum.

Disagree. Moot won. He cashed out, he doesn't need the "fame" of the internet anymore. And basically sold his site to someone that can "run" it despite the questionable shit (selling user data). Despite his "flops" (DAE remember Canvas or whatever it was called?), he still got out clean.

Evilore is going to crash. I didn't even read the Gamepro article, but I know it made no splash for 'Lore. I really wonder how much he paid for that sucking off on a dying medium for the gaming enthusiasts.

Never been to 4chan outside a couple pokes in my early teens, but in the past couple years moot has been doing some amazing stuff. What tickles my fancy most is when he talks about web development and startups and it really seems like he's not only quite knowledgeable about it, but humble as well which is hard to come by.

As far as I know. Even if he didn't, he doesn't want to run the site anymore. He "sold" it to the 2channel dude just today. He's washing his hands of it (as if he didn't in January). He's "clean." 4chan's problems or hosting issues aren't his problem anymore.

Compare it to Evilore who wants to drum up hype for his site but continues to face-plant.

He got a lot of respect, dude. I wouldn't say in terms of girlfriends, but he's dating a girl currently. He did reasonable cons when he was 17-18 (I remember going to the VERY FIRST con event he did for Otakon 2005 and him and WT Snacks being there and hosting the Japanese Porn con event) and the community liked him for better or worse.

Time did articles on him, as did Wired and his "anonymous internet is good for everyone" view points.

Love him or hate him, he certainly was respected.

True, but where I was coming from is how with Evilore's Euro trip he seemed like a braggart when it came to him being the owner of a videogame forum. Moot has definitely done more, and he seems like a good dude.

Learning from your creation or something you've operated is definitely different than taking credit for something and running with it. Moot would say he was a player in fostering an anonymous web, Evilore would probably say NeoGaf is one of a kind, a gem when it comes to videogame forums (

And yes, /v/ in the early board introduction was farrrr more civil than it is now. It was like /vr/ is but with modern titles. No trollin', no hostility. It was pretty refreshing compared to /b/ and GameFAQs, et. al. of the time.

The reason he gets my respect versus 'lore or Lowtax is that moot at least "got" 4chan's culture, given he built the board to discuss anime in 2003/when he was in his teens. He was at least able to keep up on 4chan's "culture" and memes. Something that would drive Lowtax and Evilore insane: letting the community be a community.
