The weekly Chloe hate train has arrived choo choo.
Gaffers hate fun and interesting characters. Give them something like Ellen Page from The Last of Us or bust.
Hopefully it turns into the weekly Life is Strange hate train.
Game is crap.
A game that hinges on writing and characterization being called crap usually means "this wasn't for me".
Does Life is Strange have good writing?
The answer is no.
Good writing doesn't make your characters sound like a board room version of what teenagers talk like. No teenagers are not dropping "hip" lingo every five seconds. And if they are it doesn't sound like anything in Life is Strange.
Good writing isn't a rush to name ever need reference you can. Which is what every conversation between Max and her dude friend sounds like.
And gee how would I know SE published this game if not for the odd title inserts.
Good writing isn't the most annoying cliched high school characters ever. I don't expect anything to be original, but try at least. LiS sure doesn't.
Cool, dark, and handsome teacher is evil. Gee that wasn't predictable.
Punk rock/goth chick is a druggy and nihilistic. Also has family problems and is annoying as fuck because instead of writing an actual person, they wrote her character design.
Max is so meek and bland, because she's the uncofident nerdy girl. Wow, even though appranrtley she was talented and determined enough I get accepted into a prestigious photography program. Those kind of teenagers don't seem to be usually be the needy and wrk ones.
Everyone else is so over the top with their school troupe characters.
Bitch girl with is so bitchy she can't even move away from the door. I mean I went to high school, no matter how bitchy or bullyish someone was, they didn't do stupid crap like that.
The entire thing reads like someone trying real hard to be authentic and by authentic I mean putting in supposed lingo every other sentence.
It's shit. The first episode was so painful and obvious in its intentions I don't want to play anymore.
