Red Steel footage/screens were also fake as fuck until the game finally got released. I remember the preview builds/previews for the game were almost completely different than the final product.
2006 was a weird year for videogames. 360 was getting excellent cross gen games and excellent next gen exclusives. DS was on fire while the Gamecube had been dead in almost all of 2006, weird games like Geist, Star Fox Assault, Killer 7 (which was great), Battalion Wars, were all the notable Gamecube exclusives in 2005. Great PS2 games kept coming out, but the PS3 reveal and launch were hilariously horrible, PSP was doing good.
Industry was a lot more fun to follow when Microsoft had to work hard as fuck for anything, Japanese developers releasing ace work on the PS2 but despising the PS3, Nintendo's first significant console woes but insane revival.
While the NX will probably flop or be made with a niche audience in mind, I wish Nintendo would make another console comeback. This gen has Sony being dominant while developers have to be complacent to survive development costs, very little risk from non PC non AAA developers this gen.
