I remember that E3 really well. Convinced mom to pick me up early from classes so I could watch it. :lawd

Still their best keynote IMO.

Double whammy was Sony falling so hard on their faces the next day, lol.

Giant Bomb is now doing videos where they watch and talk over videos of old E3 press conferences, promotional vids, etc.  The appeal of that is lost on me.  They watched the entire Sony 2006 E3 conference... why?

Was there even that big of a backlash that warranted such a passive-aggressive article like this? I feel like overall the U4's reviews reception was much more civil than the mess that was Uncharted 3's. Based on that I dont really see the point for videogamer to post this. It could have been said multiple times about multiple reviews, especially when it involves exclusive titles. There will always be stupid people complaining about low scores, opinions, etc. Will they post stuff like this everytime a review of them is not well received? Just seems random and uncalled for to me, idk.

If they gave another big title a similar score and did nothing about it, that would seem pretty hypocritical.

I haven't seen not a single outburst over UC4 bad review scores. I think this apology is way over blown and bring attention to something that's totally not exclusive to Uncharted in the slightest. What was even the point tbh?

It has felt lately that GB has been phoning it in on the video content. Just my opinion. I pay for the site because I support what they do, but they had that big VR blowout which was a big wet fart as anticipated and now it just feels like they are out of ideas. I really don't care about wrestling at PAX and a stupid hot dog eating contest at PAX. Maybe it's too early to 100% DS3 or they are trying to concentrate on E3.

Edit: And of course as I say this, they are doing a Mario Party Party this week.

I wish so much that I could damn gamers to suffer the reviews you have to put up with in the road racing bicycle press.

1. Every bike is laterally stiff and vertically compliant. (Translation from marketing speak: you can pedal hard and the bike is comfortable.)

2. The quality control on some finished products makes the first generation Xbox 360 look like the Neo Geo AES but no reviews mention these issues because they don't spend enough time with the product to discover these problems, and even if they did they wouldn't mention them because they're long-form advertisements, not actual press.

3. Pretty much everything scores 3.5 or 4 out of 5.

I think they were being asked to do those after they changed their normal/new conference coverage to that style.

The issue of the poor press do get pretty overblown in the grand scheme of thing, as you point out there's a lot of other fields where the press is both reliant on ad money and (p)review access, cars is one that involves a much more essential and expensive purchase for a lot of people. Honestly there's a lot of decent (if often smaller and specialized) outlets covering games if you care to search for it. However there's no denying it's still lagging behind film or book criticism, even if those are often viewed with rose-tinted glasses (independent freethinking high brow stuff immune to hype and advertisement is more the exception than the rule). I currently believe the issue lies more with the readership than the editorial staff : the latter have actually come a long way since the 90's where the "journalists" were indeed teenagers with trash writing skills and a rather low bar for critical thinking.

Oh, there's a Crash Bandicoot segment in Uncharted 4, that's why we're talking about a wretched mascot platformer IP [redundant -ed.] long since consigned to its deserved fate in 2016 like that didn't happen. I knew there was a logical explanation for this situation.

The Crash thing has been bubbling for a while on Gaf last E3 with the Shenmue reveal, it seemed a certain segment of Sony loyalist gamers thought that they could get anything green lighted if they just whined enough.

So what started out as a semi joke got serious and now it seems a ton of gaf gamers are on the crazy train wanting this game for no other reason that trying to prove how 'powerful' Gaf is. Having Crash 'easter eggs' in Uncharted 4 only adds to the silliness.

Why do these bums never shill for games that actually deserve to continue? What I'd give for another Panzeer Dragoon Saga rpg.

Lots of begging directed at the most high and benevolent Sony Sabaoth, to whom we should be grateful if it threw us the bone of a kickstarter or of a PS4 port. Nevermind that we're there because Sony disbanded not that long ago one of its oldest and most iconic development branches.

Kinecta wasn't horrible. Though it'd definitely need a name change.

Doesn't Extreme-G have like two good games, one mediocre game and then one that's like straight shit or something. But they didn't come out in that order, so it might be like 1-3-4-2 for all I know.

Another N64 game that needs a reboot: Beetle Adventure Racing.

and WOHD also had the Zone mode, both obviously weapon free.

Anyway the whole genre is deader than disco unfortunately and for issues deeper than weapon / racing balance.

I've never really played F Zero GX even though I had a cube. Not sure what happened there. I even borrowed it once from a friend. Really one of those gaming things I regret.

Also not borrowing Panzer Dragoon Saga from a neighbour who was a Sega nut. I was a lil scrub then though.

If you have a PS3, Wipeout Fury (Which is Wipeout HD + the Fury expansion pack) is a very solid game. Lots of track and lots of ships. I don't know if servers are still running (they were still there a year ago) but there's a lot of single player content. It has been released both in digital and physical form so it should be available at a reasonable price.

I loved Wipeout XL on PS1 but for some reason never bothered to play any of the later games, which are the best ones?

3 for the soundtrack, and HD/Fury for the graphics/gameplay variety.

I can't. That poor guy. Look, if this is what he has to make him happy, so be it. That's...that's too sad for any other emotion to squeeze out.

HD Fury does custom soundtrack (surprisingly for a PS3 title), so you can put that sweet Sacha track from WO3 on it.

What does Bobby Roberts actually do? Why do people let him see movies in advance and disseminate his opinions when that spot in the theater could go to any one of so many better people?
I don't know, but that spoiler thread sucks. It's like fucking stop hogging the spotlight and tell us what happen in the movie.

Is that the guy who said something like "I'm gonna leave that for someone else to spoil" when asked about Wolverine in the new X-Men movie?  Some incredible eye-rolling responses in that thread.  Stop making shit cryptic and fucking SPOIL SHIT IN THE *SPOILER THREAD*.  The movie is getting trashed though so I'm not gonna go see it in theaters anyway.
