This ban will be swift, and bring with it a wave of "wow" posts. Can't infer that she doesn't like games!

I would have thought after multiple Tropes Vs Women threads were going 'off script' will lead to a ban. People who actually like discussing that subject with actual understanding of differing opinions would avoid what are now blatant ban bait threads.

Kind of surprised anyone even cares anymore.  Those videos no longer have the high amount of views that they used to.  I watched the latest one and as usual, we get more shit taken out of context or used incorrectly, and then it's like she ran out of stuff to talk about and decided to just bash Bayonetta -again- for the umpteenth time.

Spend a good chunk of your video mocking a Perfect Dark commercial, brehs.   Yeah, sex sells-- but none of that shit was in the game.  :lol  I can't figure out why she didn't pick out a bunch of skimpy-armored females from various games to make her point.  Joanna Dark?  Cammy?  Cortana?  None of these characters are supposed to be wearing armor.

The mocking of the commercial was the best part, mostly because of how amazingly wrong they are in their analysis of it.

That commercial was meant to mock the preconceived notions of the gamers watching it, baiting you with sexy woman and turning it on it's head. The reveal is that what she's "wearing to work" is her arsenal of guns and equipment, and that she's the only one who can do the job. I get the feeling that any sexiness is bad sexiness in most of her videos. There's not real thought put into the context.

Yeah, I didn't necessarily disagree with much of what she said, but hasn't she already covered this specific topic like 8 thousand times already?

There's nothing really left to be said, but she has to fulfill her Kickstarter pledge and make X amount of videos.  I'm sure she doesn't care about this anymore when she has found a way to make a lot more money doing speeches instead.

And if you posted this in that thread, you'd be banned.  :doge

No reason to debate what she says, anyway-- She was just looking for a way to get fame/cash, and found it.  Forget videos from random "rant" dudes picking apart what she says...here's a feminist completely disagreeing with her.

Christina Hoff Sommers is often considered the conservative friendly feminist.

She hangs out with Milo who calls her Based Mom:

As part of comprehensive measures being taken to keep ad quality standards at the highest possible level for NeoGAF and maintain a safe and fast browsing experience for everyone, I've deployed tech that will monitor all the ad tags, desktop and mobile, for non-compliant ad activity to proactively block bad ads, and we're also rolling out a user-reporting feature attached to each ad unit that, if you personally encounter a bad ad that breaches the first line of defense, you'll be able to easily report any bad ad you encounter to NeoGAF's ad team for investigation and takedown.

Note that these reporting links will, by default implementation, screw with the site formatting in minor ways and we'll determine the ideal way to adjust them; I've just deemed it more important to get the functionality live than for it to look extra pretty beforehand. Aesthetic concerns will be sorted out within the next few days.

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1229205

I think this move is a bit too late for a lot of people. I didn't really pay attention to the old ads on mobile, but these massive new ones are just ridiculous.

Also fucking hell at the ass kissers in that thread who want to actually pay for an 'ad free' gaf.

I watched this video out of respect for our tireless mod and there comes a point in it where the presenter is attempting to rebut the claim that sexism in video games helps perpetuate societal sexism and proceeds to whip out something like that famous GAF post that real respect is found on the field, like in sports, except for women instead of people who aren't heterosexual. :doge

In previous decades, even till the 90s, video game introduction was relatively simple. It was quite easy to get a grasp of it and get involved in the story and presentation.
I'd say the exception were some computer games, but they were niche, considering the more expensive hardware prices back. Their presentation catered to an older audience.

But now the medium has expanded so greatly in story and presentation that it is possible to present a movie script of hundreds of pages in a single video game.
Though most glaring issue is not the quantity but the quality of the presentation. Except that you have to get acquainted with the gameplay elements, you are also forced to spend hours in the story mode. Sometimes I find this too much to handle.

I'll put aside grand franchises like Assasin's Creed and Final Fantasy.
Even known games with simple story like Mario, Mega Man, Zelda, Castlevania, Sonic, Metroid, Street Fighter etc have amassed to events of hundreds of pages, which make it very tiresome to read or play through. Probably one reason I stopped caring for the above franchises.

I could ignore the story and focus just on the gameplay, but there is always this feeling that you've missed something or cant grasp the references. Eg I could not comprehend the events and characters of Sonic Generations, having missed Sonic Adventure. Or the lore of the newer Zeldas. Or even Street Fighter, which has now so many characters and a grander scheme of things

I feel that with such a rich medium, there is really no need for so many sequels. Older games had sequels both due to their success but also because developers did not have the hardware capacity to include so many elements at once. But now I am bombarded with information that I am unable to process or am not even interested in. Video game franchises rival now novels and TV series in presentation quantity.

It is difficult to keep up with the story of a single game nowadays (Stalker, Metro 2033), let alone a multi-sequel franchise.

Every time I watch an Anita video, all I can think of is "My cultural studies professor would have kicked the shit out of me if I delivered that the standard of work in a paper" (Hell, I didn't want to do it either but cultural criticism and analysis was part of the core modules for Journalism in 1st year). And she was really fucking good at verbal beatdowns to anyone who even dared to think "The Male Gaze is all you need to explain sexism" as there is so many other cultural writers exploring the representation of race and gender like Stuart Hall.  Five references to relevant source's minimum was the quota and the more you used to back up or even challenge your argument, the better.

One reference to a pre-existing work like the book shown in that video done in a "Drive by" manner with no exploration of context or compare contrast to another writer. Goddamn you would be lucky to scrape a third class pass mark for the effort, Anita.

And most the rebuttals are gross nerds calling her "a bitch" and screaming "Leave videogames alone" because internet. Wallace Stanley Sayre died just in time or he would have died of a conniption looking at modern discourse.

Countdown is what made me fall in love with comics as an adult. 5 years and 60 issues later, it's time to say goodbye to IDW ongoing, the only canonical non-show/movie.

It was an absolute joy and an amazing adventure, packed with emotion and written with so much love. It followed the current series of Star Trek and showed the world how true it really was to Trek in the face of heaters and those that dismiss it.

to be honest though, the early issues where they were reimagining the old TOS episodes for the Abramsverse were kinda cool

I think this is where big gaming media's are reaching the breaking point, forget honesty and proper reviews, they want to us to watch shit that's either rushed out to make money, or is done without any actual work to show for it, just so a couple of views can be made, fucking pathethic.

Why don't we show them we've had enough?

#UnSubGameSpot

I know it's dumb, but I think we need to show these types of channels that we're not falling for any of their tricks.

This one is probably sarcastic but it's hard to tell with the internet.
He double and triple downed on it. So I couldn't resist: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=205944127&postcount=645

oh huelen

Countdown is what made me fall in love with comics as an adult. 5 years and 60 issues later, it's time to say goodbye to IDW ongoing, the only canonical non-show/movie.

It was an absolute joy and an amazing adventure, packed with emotion and written with so much love. It followed the current series of Star Trek and showed the world how true it really was to Trek in the face of heaters and those that dismiss it.

to be honest though, the early issues where they were reimagining the old TOS episodes for the Abramsverse were kinda cool

For a second I thought Huelen meant this Countdown and almost popped a blood vessel:

He probably would love "52 Done Right" so don't bring it up.
