The "Greatest Hits" cheap factor is one reason I own Crash 1 and 2. (2 is soooo much better, yet everybody talks about the first one which is straight unbalanced garbage for many chunks of it. Maybe they just never got past the first island.)
But also the Spyro series, which was two masterpieces and a good game, so it evens out.
According to Gamasutra, the first Crash Bandicoot game has sold 6.8 million units worldwide as of November 2003[84], making it the seventh best-selling PlayStation game of all time. Cortex Strikes Back sold 3.9 million units in the U.S., while Warped sold 3.8 million. The last 2 games on the PlayStation console, Crash Team Racing and Crash Bash, sold 1.9 million and 1.6 million units in the U.S. respectively. Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex (the first PS2/Xbox/GCN non-Sony title), has sold 2 million units in the U.S.[85] For comparison from the same Gamustra article, the
original Rayman for PS1 sold 4 million worldwide.

Steve H5 months ago I'm a grown man and I love serious, competitive games but honestly, sometimes I just want to chill the fuck out in bed and play something fun. Crash Bandicoot was a game I loved as a kid and I'd be all over a new one, maybe if Ratchet and Clank does well it'll make devs a bit more brave to just make fun games that aren't super realistic. meowmate15 months ago Crash bash was my jam, perfect co op me and my brother Zo “zotheghost” the Ghost5 months ago pretty cool, too bad naughty dog gave up on crash to focus on their "realistic, badass" characters and franchises Helois Gevit4 months ago Bring back Crash! Bring back Spyro! Release them on PC! coverandoacasa5 months ago All the PlayStation 1 platform games were the best, crash bandicoot is my favourite indeed i hope 2016 will be the year of crash; i hope other platform games come back too (spyro, tomba, medievil, gex, croc) like abe and rayman did in these year (i really want to see more frequently rayman console games) ash7355 months ago I've always said, Crash Bandicoot needs to return, but NOT essentially with Naughty Dog like most people want as Naughty Dog today hardly has anyone there who was involved with Crash. Any studio would be fine as long as Jason Rubin, Andy Gavin and Josh Mancell (Music Composer for Crash 1-3 & CTR) were involved. Plokster5 months ago (edited) Loved the Crash Bandicoot series, although the first was a little too hard for my taste. I wish there were more games with this sort of spirit. Crash Bandicoot and Spyro are some the only games my siblings will play with me because the games are simple, fun, and anyone can play them. Also, this amazing comment:
Stranno4 weeks ago Its funny to see Jason talking about the challenges of doing the first real 3D platformer ever (not the same kind of old-school 2D sidescrollers in polygons like Gex or Rayman in Playstation) and people are like wooooahh, what a genious. And then Eidetic, that was an amazingly talented studio, developed Bubsy 3D, the first 3D open level platformer ever and the first translation of a character from a fully 2D concept to a fully 3D concept and people are like what is this shit? Because of the tank controls (digital controller crappy magic) and the simple design.
