Being crude, tasteless & crass is their whole schtick before any "serious" political commitment (though it has that in spades). The tagline to Hara Kiri, its spiritual forefather was "dumb and nasty" and they very much meant it.

Well yeah, that always was the whole point. There's an old 1978 cover with Hitler going
"Hey Jews, got ethered ?" (you get the idea). They would be content making dick and shit jokes in peace instead of having been turned into a martyr of freedom embodying very serious, sensible, responsible stuff.
I get that a ton of context is lost to non French people... Anyone having actually read a couple issues would probably get all of that without being told. Only goes to show just how much BS we all spout on the Internet on a daily basis about things far removed.
Can't wait for a Gaffer to find out about "Hitler = SS" by Vuillemin. That one rustled quite a few jimmies at the time.
