Marvel 4 wouldn't have this problem.
reminder that Capcom purposely made no effort to fix up Marvel 3 in hopes that it would die* and that it still destroyed SFIV for years all the way up until Ultra came out.

MvC3 is a dumpster fire compared to SFIV, gameplay and design wise. The one terrible thing they share is the comeback mechanic used in each game.
but it almost always beat SFIV in viewers because it's fun to watch and which was the point of my post. I'd rather watch Marvel's insanity versus the vortex fest and purposely imbalanced revisions of SFIV that plagued it between Super and Ultra. SFIV's comeback mechanic was the least of its problems after 09/Super. Not that Marvel is super balanced, but it's a game that can handle imbalance better and make it interesting to watch.
edit: for my own purposes, I wouldn't care if it's Marvel 4 or Capcom Vs. Capcom, though Marvel characters are obviously a huge draw.
Marvel insanity though is I touch you with a light attack and convert it into a 30-50 hit combo to get enough meter to kill your current character or swap your character out with the important assist character or anchor. If it isn't a light touch, its a grab. If it isn't a grab, its going to be assist spam.
The thing I respect about Marvel is the execution required to play the game. Execution though isn't a fun thing for me to watch (which is mainly why I respect Smash bros as a game but think its the most boring game to watch competitively). Marvel 3 having mainly Americans as the competition at major events is another thing that makes it boring to me (same applies to Mortal Kombat and Smash.)
Viewership numbers don't mean much to me, I've never thrown my hat into that pissing contest (like Tasty has been doing whenever Smash is brought up

). To me they matter when something like King of Fighters or Virtua Fighter (RIP) get a lot viewers.
