I thought the joke was that he is becoming uncomfortable as his daughter shows interest in red haired adult women from a game.  We may celebrate the introduction of diversity in the strip.

The joke is that he looks like a muppet, plays videogames relentlessly, has social skills like a jellyfish has a right hook, talks about vidya for a life, adds to a comic about vidya for a life, got mad skrilla, a cult following, a girl and a marriage and procreated, and GAF hits Submit Reply.

A) Trump is unstable and I wouldn't be surprised if he started another war
B) With the loss of Trump go his diehard base, people who would follow him to the grave and would blame the GOP for not protecting him. The GOPs base would split considerably between unreasonable ignorant masses and Trump supporters
C) I and I assume many others like the ACLU don't plan to rest simply on a Trump impeachment/resignation. There are still fights to be fought and seats to win and I'd rather fight them without the bundle of random distractions that is Trump
D) It's entirely possible that the fallout from this takes Pence with him anyway or ruins him for the job being Trump's right hand. He becomes a bigger media target and as a fundamentalist Christian gay basher, you can bet there are some instances of un-ignorable hypocrisy within his past (or present)
E) Loss of Trump also means a loss of Bannon and possibly, I forget his name but, that bundle of scorpions inside the suit of a balding, nasally twerp.
F) Trump impeachment means he pays not only for crimes committed as president, but it's a symbolic fuck you to him and his ilk; entitled spoiled white brats who think they can gain power to spread their hate
G) The fall of the Trump family (crossing my fingers). Ivanka with no one to pitch her crappy product, Kushner with the loss of having a father in law make waves for him etc. This will be a stain on the current Trumps and the name for decades upon decades to come.
Quote
I think it'll be referred to as the Russian Collusion scandal or along those lines. If there ever is any criminal charges that reached the oval office, then this is a much bigger scandal than Watergate. This would be straight-up treason. Referring to it as something like "Russia-gate" would not at all reflect the magnitude of the charges.

Closest I've read so far is Russia hacked voter registration polls which led Manafort to tell Trump to focus on the key states which won. This would require collaboration.

The Mike Flynn immunity thread has so many people who think you can sign an immunity deal with prosecutors based on testimony and then go "I did all the crimes/there were no crimes, haha immunity suckers DEAL WITH IT!" and run off into the night to Russia.

Also nobody seems to remember the dude was earnestly sending out Pizzagate tweets during the campaign.

Iconic for the wrong reasons, admittedly

You're gonna stand there, ownin' a fireworks stand, and tell me you don't have no whistlin' bungholes, no spleen splitters, whisker biscuits, honkey lighters, hoosker doos, hoosker don'ts, cherry bombs, nipsy daisers, with or without the scooter stick, or one single whistlin' kitty chaser?
Quote
Believe it or not, probably something meme related. The Dark Knight would probably have 3 or 4 good candidates.
Quote
Probably The Dark Knight interrogation scene. How modern are we talking? I'd probably put something like The Lion King's opening scene before that., or something from Forrest Gump.
Quote
"You shall not pass!"

The idea of Inception, with it being used to describe any kind of thing-within-a-thing scenario.

"Why so serious?"

Then right behind it:
Quote
Maybe Logan's last scene, especially the final shot.
Quote
Going to second this. People here need to understand iconic. This is the part people think about when they think Avengers and like it or not the Avengers brand is the biggest in cinema right now.
Quote
Quote
Anton Chigurh "call it" gas station scene in No Country for Old Men

"I drink your milkshake" from There Will Be Blood

Denzel's "King Kong ain't got shit on me" speech from Training Day

Inception (take your pick really). Probably the folding city scene or the hallway fight.
All of these.

To me "iconic" would mean that even people who haven't seen the films are at least familiar with the scene. I don't think I know many people who don't know of these.
...
Fuck it, if Titanic counts, then I'd also include:

Gladiator - "Are you not entertained?"

Born in the USA is an incredible album but I'm pressed to think of many songs I like from any of his other albums.  Rosalita and Hungry Heart, I guess.  His band's musicianship is top notch, though.  Max Weinberg and Clarence Clemons, especially.

About Persona, I managed to keep myself totally blacked out on this game until the Giant Bomb quick look.  I'm hyped as fuck, it looks incredible.

Jesus, this thread really went off the rails with the racial stuff. Woman is an asshole, but suggesting that someone who has an intense freakout over nothing in public may have a psychiatric or personality disorder is not privilege, but logic. If you think this courtesy is not extended equally to people of color, be part of the solution and do so when the situation warrants, rather than shaming people attempting to make sense of the situation in a manner other than pointing out the obvious badness of a person's actions. Granted, we are limited to the content of the video in making that evaluation, but still, on a forum like GAF, I find that reaction kind of baffling, given the near constant pleading for empathy one often sees.

. I expect you're probably referring to 3 times you got banned in OT threads: once for saying "comedy is like chess--men are just better at it", once for telling people that trans-women are men and anyone who says anything else is talking nonsense, and once for entering a trans thread to complain that you don't care about trans issues and say the word cis-gender is made up.

Quote from: Stump
I don't want to link any posts because if the person is still banned it'll seem like I'm gloating and if they're not banned it'll be digging up stuff they may well regret and have changed their minds about years later. But I'm just saying I don't see much of a change.

GAF is a much less fun place than it was a few years ago.

And it really does feel like more of an echo chamber now since every member with a distinct personality is bound to run afoul of one of the moderators eventually.

What exactly is the idea behind enforcing such a high level of conformity in a video game forum?

I think in some ways the forum has fallen prey to a form of mass hysteria where they see gamergators everywhere in Gaming and Nazis everywhere in Off-Topic. It is very bizarre to be honest.

That is a good point.

Before it was all about having insider videogame knowledge OR at least be smart and passionate about video games. And being (occasionally) funny.

Now, it seems all that matters is that you can somehow claim to be the superior moral being irregardless of what is actually being discussed.

Conflicts would probably lead to a lot more clicks. That's the whole point of comment's sections, at least. To make people return to the same story more than once so they can argue politics ad nauseam.

As far as GAF goes, I think the greater sensitivity about certain topics aligns with an increasingly desperate need to keep advertisers happy, given that the EviLore's personal opinions probably line up more with this thread's.

If that were the case, I would still have an account lol.

Morality is very much relative on GAF.

Apparently if you push back against someone that wishes harm on the friends and family of someone because they voted for Trump, that is just grandstanding and deserves a perm. Justified because I had gotten an earlier ban a month prior for pushing back on a couple usual suspects(Frozen Prince) for bullying someone based on mis-assumed "wrong-think."
