Trump's a big enough asshole all by himself to not need to be painted as the reincarnation of Hitler, all that does is make people ignore you for lacking an ounce of sense, perspective and scale.
I don't disagree but while, as benjipwns aptly explained, the situation now is very different from interwar Europe, it is the most vivid analogy we have of a political wave sweeping several countries and resulting ultimately on racist violence condoned and conducted by nation-states. Call me pessimistic but I don't think it's out of the question that down the line (half to a decade to a decade) and should far-right politicians have their way we may look up to mass deportations and/or ignominious policies.
EDIT : As an aside, I always thought that the european radical-left going full 'tard on W.Bush post-9/11, eager to believe any ridiculous conspiracy and the most cartoonish explanations was downright ridiculous.
In the end I guess it comes down to whether or not you believe Trump is different.
