Sony fanboys are much like republican politicians in that they're able to deftly keep to message with nary a blip in posting style. My fave is that they can no longer can say just PS4 it has to constantly referred to as PS4 Pro.

I've got to admire that kind of dedication to the cause. One of the holdovers that we'll see from the bish era is the amount of Playstation 'MVP's' on gaf who don't tell anyone who they are when posting shill threads.

It's called the rump shaker, the beats is like sweeter than candy
I'm feelin' manly and your shaker's comin' in handy
Slide em across from new york down by your Virginia
Ticklin' you around Delaware before I enter
Turn to seduction from face hips to feet
A wiggle and a jiggle can make the night complete
Now since you got the body of the year, come and get the award
Here's a hint, it's like a long sharp sword

Damm the song was smartly subtly nasty than I realized. I was always more focused on the video.

It's kinda sad tho that fucking Mortal Kombat X has the best gay male representation of any million+ selling game.

Reading the Christmas comic, I took it as implied that Winston is gay. Then again, I don't follow Overwatch's canon or anything, so I might be reading into that photo too much as a troll on fanboys. But it would be a delicious shitstorm if the human-ape was banging an actual human. Just imagine that.

That's what I said on a gay subreddit: Her being gay isn't progressive as it doesn't rock the boat for straight men. "Oh, a lesbian!" doesn't stop them from trying to "convert" her. The real progression would've been choosing a male, it would've caused a huge shitstorm though (beyond the Waifu-figs for Tracer anyway that are pissed that their Waifu NEVER EVER them's sexual advances) so they played it safe.

Yep.  People praise the WB for all their allowing gay characters, but male gay folk don't really exist in popular media and likely won't for awhile.  It skeeves out the main demographic after all: Straight young men.

There's also the "Why do people use sexy images for their wallpapers/avatars?" thread. I was tempted to just post "cuz I fucking can." but decided to just not bother posting because I can see OP had ate too many paint chips in their youth.

$200 would be great. Their cheapest price at launch since the GameCube (NES, SNES and N64 were priced the same, too.)

Wii was $250 (with WiiSports) and Wii U was $300-350 (with Nintendoland at the latter price.) :doge

If the $200 price is indicative of the Switch being more like the non-Wii systems I'm on board, haha.

I very much know what's up. If  Johnlock or Destiel were ever made canon, the publicity alone would carry the WB and the BBC respectively for months. In the case of Destiel, the utter freak outs from the scary J2/wincest crowd would be hilarious and completely  worth it.

Every time there's a thread about anything employment related with the games industry Gaffers get all pro union: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1326489 as someone who works in the games industry I don't really understand it and no one I ever worked with was interested in a union.
GAF doesn't really get the job hopping aspect of the industry and similar ones in the West. (And increasingly the Glorious Nippon.) Most the people they latch onto are management in some form.

Fuck, let alone all the contracting.

There's plenty of guilds and unions for what amounts to contracted, freelance work (writers, cinematographers, actors) so I don't think that's a really valid counterpoint, though being unfamiliar with the precise history of those guilds, they might have been created in the studio Golden Age, when employment was both more stable and exacting. Film industry in the US is much more concentrated in a couple of key locations too. You can't just wish it to exist, setting up an union is work.

as someone who works in the games industry I don't really understand it and no one I ever worked with was interested in a union.

Wouldn't you be, though, if an union already existed and membership would guarantee mandatory early wage minimums ?

But games aren't all made on with the same financial model, especially not these days and they aren't nearly as easy to compartmentalize as manufacturing or film. That's the thing that I feel like people don't understand about software development. You can't subdivide things in the same way you can with other stuff, no matter how much six sigma black belts and scrum masters try.

Though the idea of an industry-wide QA union going on strike fills me with glee.

Loads of people working in QA love it, companies recruit young teens or early twenty somethings that love to stay late and get a pizza as compensation.

This model is kind of dying except at the Activisions of the world that can just throw bodies at the problem. One of the things that has made its way in to game development (especially with the rise of mobile, and persistent games in general) are the need for more skilled QA capable of automation and doing more than just running a character into a wall until they crash.

But a union would be able to mandate set hours of work and overtime/crunch to not be overwhelming for employees. Employees would be able to see their kids and a union would be able to at least try to help the folks in the industry find another job/hop to another job as a safety net if a studio goes belly up, wouldn't it?

I mean think of it this way: Wouldn't you want to prevent another EA_Spouse (which is thankfully better than it was but still bad in terms of working conditions for folks in the industry), and forgetting the article where this guy blindly chased the industry while his kids were growing up, having to move around like military brats AND budget like hell because he wasn't making enough/having a stable job?

How would a union do that though? It's hard enough getting through recruiters and HR people to talk to someone who understands what I do know how to do and what I don't know how to do,  at least I have the power to represent myself and control the information that is used to determine if I get a job. If you take that away and only some union person knows, how am I supposed to trust them? Do I still get to choose to work for smaller studios more focused on creativity or does everything turn into a Ubisoft style assembly line?

Why would only an union member know ? I don't think anyone here is advocating to make the games industry or any company within union-only employment. Just that cross-company coordination provided by an association might help the workforce get more leverage, especially with the biggest actors in the field. Even with a membership in the 5%, you probably get an organization capable to push back on certain practices and provide legal relief to any employee, if it is set up properly.

Even outside he didn't use ear protection? He's got balls. :lol

As for shooting, the first shot takes courage but the more ammo you use the more you realize a gun is no more harmful than a hammer. It's the same as carrying a kitchen knife or a pair of scissors: a harmless tool if handled with safety. After shooting either you'll realize that your fear was a self made delusion as it was in the case of me, or you'll know if you just don't like guns.

Yeah, we're country folk, no one uses ear protection:p Never seen anyone shoot with protection actually. Most everyone I know that owns guns using them for hunting and only does target practise to either show off a new gun or train for an upcoming hunt, and it usually is always outdoor with a mcguyvered target lol.

Ladies night sounds fun, if I find a range and go I'll let you know how it goes.
Growing up in New Mexico and Tennessee I never saw anyone use ear protection either. Then again, we also always shot on private land. When I started shooting at ranges I got ear and eye protection. It makes such a world of difference and is much more enjoyable.
New Mexico natives high five.  Whereabouts?

I'm going to try a range if I can find one that's in my budget.
I know this is from like 5 days ago but I'm from Alamogordo, NM. Born on Holloman AFB. Woot! Where in NM are you from??

Didn't they kinda bring it on themselves though, a lot of the "fanart" is her fucking Widowmaker?

That's what I said on a gay subreddit: Her being gay isn't progressive as it doesn't rock the boat for straight men. "Oh, a lesbian!" doesn't stop them from trying to "convert" her. The real progression would've been choosing a male, it would've caused a huge shitstorm though (beyond the Waifu-figs for Tracer anyway that are pissed that their Waifu NEVER EVER them's sexual advances) so they played it safe.

Why does anyone even care about this?  It's a fucking multiplayer-only FPS where you run around and shoot people and shit.    :dizzy

Because Blizzard cannon. Waifuwatch is a thing.

Outside of Clovis/Cannon AFB, itty-bitty town called Melrose.  High Desert Plains. Alamogordo is gorgeous, I love White Sands. Husband has family there and in Las Cruces/Demming

People need their fanporn to be semi realistic. Cant have a robot fucking a skinny chick realistically when their sexuality isnt canon :doge

Canon I why fanfiction exists. Hell, most of fanfiction is two people fucking who aren't cannonically the sexuality for it to be happening:p

Switch should cost $199, or at the absolute most, $229.99 (with nintendoland style pack in game)

Knowing Nintendo? $499.
