What pisses me off is that this should have been a wake-up call. But instead of thinking about ways of reaching people, democrats are talking about younger and hipper candidates. They're talking about dynasties as if dynasties are the cause of the problem instead of a symptom. They're talking about Clinton as if she is an absolute failure when she's done more for the progressive movement just by being there and voting.

But until the left stops eating itself by trying to define what a true progressive is, this will never end. People are falling into the same patterns instead of answering that call.

At least Mass Effect can break away from Shepard. Star Wars cannot break away from the Skywalkers and storm troopers and "the rebellion". Even in the good EU Star War crap like KOTOR is ultimately devolves in rebels vs sith. Star Wars is one-dimensional and can only serve for a few specific storylines because Star Wars, unlike other space franchises, has to fulfill the qualifier of being "fun". Mean while, Mass Effect is getting a game that has nothing to do with Shep or the old gang.

Trek was smart to place TNG 70 years after TOS. And when Star Wars has the ability to make a tv show? It starts......you guessed - Anakin and Obi Wan! Star Wars cannot break away from this. It is inferior.

Star Wars is limited and kind of sucks outside of the fact they're good, fun movies. :yeshrug

Yeah, I mean, kind of right? I think we all had that same complaint about TFA. But it's not like Trek has done any better since the shows ended. Or Mass Effect, really. Sure it's Ryder now, but even in an entirely different galaxy, it looks like they're still giving you a Krogan, a Turian, etc, etc, etc.

Space shit always seems to underestimate how big ass the universe can be. Or, we demand more of the same old shit forever and ever.

I don't have a problem with this. They have an alliance and it makes sense in-universe to keep that alliance. Trek regularly made new races all the time. It always felt vast. And the new one is still about exploring the unknown so you'll definitely get tons of new races too.

I don't really see "there's always a Klingon, there's always a human" as a legitimate critique. I mean, are they not supposed to be there? In TNG, there were barely any Vulvan's because we already explored Vulcan culture through Spock.

What matters (to me) is if the universe expands and if the conditions based around that universe aren't always the same.

Quote from: Possibly weird encounter on the bus today
Hi gaf, how's everyone doing today?

I don't know if this is thread worthy, but this kind of thing has never happened to me before and I felt like sharing and getting some opinions/advice from anyone it might have happened to.

To start, there was a tube strike here today and naturally the buses were all much more crowded than usual. I got on my usual bus and within about 5 minutes it was filled to the point where it was almost impossible to move. I ended up standing next to a woman, she was initially facing away from me but then turned around. We exchanged for just a moment and slowly the bus started to empty to the point where I could get my phone and start reading Vice. I can't remember what I was reading but she suddenly said scroll back up.

This took me by surprise and I initially thought she was talking to someone else, but when I looked up she was looking directly at me and said can you scroll up. I did so and we finished reading. After she finished, she introduced herself and started to chat about how bad the tube strike was and how awful her day was going to be now.

I'm not socially awkward by any means but this is a first for me, to have someone just randomly start talking to me. So we chatted for a bit, talked about what we do and what we did for New Years. It felt like the conversation was naturally winding down and I decided to get my phone back out when she asked if she could make a call and called herself.

She said she'd message me later in the day to talk about getting coffee and sure enough she did and that's why I made this thread. I wrote it off as her just doing something for the thrill of it, maybe she had a new years resolution to talk to a stranger and get their number but she followed through and messaged me to meet her tomorrow for coffee after work. She set a time, told me the place and asked how long I'd be able to stay.

I don't know how I feel. She was funny as well as very open and sincere during out conversation so I don't think she's messing me around for some funny story to tell, but she was also quite attractive too and not someone I would have thought I'd be able to ask out on a date if I'd seen her on the street or on a dating site.

Has this happened to anyone here? Do I go and see how things turn out? I should add I'm not super attractive or even average if I'm perfectly frank (I'll PM anyone who wants to see what I look like but I'd ask please don't share the picture anywhere else), so I don't know what she saw in me beyond our conversation. I know I'm overthinking some things and I know I shouldn't, but doesn't anyone else think it's weird?

I'm looking for any advice.

Oh please. Even when you poll well, you still campaign and she ran a bad campaign on top of being a bad candidate. You aren't even American. The fact she loss does reflect badly on her. She lost to the most unliked candidate of all time. Your post absolves her and her campaign from any and all responsibility.

I still can't believe Hillary didn't bother to set foot in Wisconsin.

It is a couple of barely dressed Asian anime girls and you are like touching them or something wtf. The quote in the title is exact verbiage from the ad.

Why they got gov funding for the videos that have been proven to be from them, and proven to be gov funded, and proven to be hoax....well...that is a separate question.

I mean why would the AUS government be interested in funding deliberate faked hoax videos.

Is the Australian government funding fake videos of kangaroos attacking dogs or men ? You tell me.

Nah, it's infecting the actual written works themselves. Some shippings were turned real, which then encourages fanbases to demand their shipping ideas become reality. I just fucking hate the world of fanfiction. I know a lot of people write it, but it develops so many bad habits and broken ideas of writing.

Kylo Ren was the best and most interesting thing about TFA by far imo. Before the film came out I assumed he'd be a Vader rip off based on the trailers/media but they they went in a very different, more interesting direction.

I'd pay to see the social media/tumblr shitfest that would occur if this trilogy leads to Kylo being redeemed and Rey turning to the dark side

I don't get it, isn't Overwatch like a Team Fortress 2 type game? Why would there be relationships when they're all fighting each other?

Oh shit, you're using your head and making sense here.  BAIL OUT!  BAIL OUT!!!

Because, to quote the great philosopher Kojima-san, love can bloom on the battlefield.

I thought people who liked shipping stopped existing somewhere before the end of middle school. :doge

Though at least I don't ship cartoon characters? Yeah that's not much better. Sigh.

Tried finding your more recent posts and apart from now being a generic username it errors with no results. Also noticed various posts were randomly deleted. It's like a bizarre mix of being wiped from the board and merely banned. :-\

Shipping is dumb. Either accept pure-canon relationships, or silently jack off to some fanfics and don't post about it (ever.)

Shipping for Overwatch of all things takes the cake for dumbest fucking shipping fans of all time though. Shipping two generic Stormtroopers in Star Wars Battlefront would be less of an embarrassing waste of time.

The overwatch 'shipping' stuff is bizarre like every OW thread I go into, it's there.

Blizzard of course plays it up each bit of content that comes out. And why wouldn't they? They have the pervert dollar now.
