The thing about comedy is that you aren't going to stop laughing at and mocking people. This high-minded concept of empathy only plays a tiny part of it. It's trying to find media that fits neatly within you worldview and just want reinforcing thoughts shot back to you, from all possible avenues. The promotion of good ideas takes precedence over "unsophisticated" feelings. Maybe it sounds noble and progressive, "punching up" and all that, but it also comes across as completely basing your whole existence around an ideology, effectively turning yourself into a tool to be used for the greater good.

I recently ended up on an overbooked flight on united, they needed 16 people off and started at $200 per. My family and I got off the plane at $500 per person, but they needed more people to exit so they kept upping it. The final per person voucher ended up at $1k, which we also got. I'm not sure why they didn't just keep upping it, people would have eventually taken the money.

I'm getting abnormally triggered reading the "Movies/TV Shows you couldn't make today" thread, since shitbirds like Bobby Roberts won't make the distinction in the difference between a primetime network comedy and a late night cable comedy.

When someone says All In The Family couldn't be made today, and he responds with BUT LOUIE AND ALWAYS SUNNY not acknowledging the fundamental difference between time of day and stations is pissing me off for some reason.

In one of those threads, someone (probably Bobby) tried to counter the "you can't make that today" statement by pointing to The Interview. Yes, a movie that didn't show in theatres out of fear of reprisal. I don't even understand what his logic was going to be on that counter example.
